|SF2|
Well, if we are going 9-7 and grabbing a Wild Card spot, Core and Ross need to step up.
|High School Harry|
No surprise. Auden Tate gets his shot. Not that it will mean anything. Who is coming in? I still like the tight end on the Squeels practice squad. As good as anyone.

BengalFanInTO
Obviously, no one is surprised by this. I expect Vontaze Burfict to join him shortly. How many concussions has he had?!? I am not excusing anyone but, the injuries this year have been insane. Just on a quick glance at the games missed (Projected through the end of the season): Ryan Glasgow 13 Games Tyler Eifert 12 Games Tyler Kroft 11 Games Carl Lawson 9 Games Preston Brown 9 Games AJ Green 7 Games Billy Price 6 Games Vontaze Burfict 6 Games (4 due to suspension) Jake Fisher 5 Games Nick Vigil 5 Games Andy Dalton 5 Games Gio Bernard 4 Games Darqueze Dennard 3 Games John Ross 3 Games Cordy Glenn 2 Games Joe Mixon 2 Games And this is if no one misses any more games and/or no one else gets hurt. This is also just mid-level to major contributors. Injuries are part of the game but this is extreme.

I'm thinking this is it as far as his career. Or at least his career at the level he has played. He, quite simply, should not have come back perhaps at all this year. Le Tigre
So is he finished as an All-Pro (Blame Bengals), not finished as an All-Pro, but "wants out" (Blame Bengals), or fully recovered/plays at All-Pro/Doesn't leave (Unthinkable--can't blame Bengals)? He is a contract year next year so we will have to wait and see. Its really a question of what is the Bengals strategy is (if any) going forward. Are they going to rebuild or simply add parts and hope the team stays healthy? Regardless, if AJ wants to leave after 2019 he will have that option unless we tag him. Stern warning said he wouldn't be happy at all. He's a grown man and they probably went with what he said.

Yeah, I seriously doubt AJ would have ever stepped on the field if he thought there was high risk of seriously hurting his toe again. We were 5-6 and Andy was out. Green wanted to play period. It doesn't mean our medical staff didn't blow rainbows up his ass though.
Catfish Bob
AJ in a boot is still better than most. I seriously doubt we have seen the last of him. Time to give Boyd big contract. I love that kid. Don't crucifie me but he reminds me of Jerry Rice with a tiny bit of Hines Ward sprinkled in.

If he cant cut as well, accelerate out of those cuts and jump as well he is no longer the AJ Green that scares opponents. He becomes Dez Bryant. I didn't post it but there was an article awhile back comparing him to Hines Ward. As a receiver. Minus the prima dona and Stealer cheap shot horse shit and whining, of course. I have a difficult time comparing Hines to anything other than a pile of dog shit on Carson Palmer's lawn.

Those guys should be young and just coming in to their prime and one's best position is taking up a space on the inactive list so someone else can be active and not play (Westerman prime example). Dead horse but we sorely need an offensive line and bringing back Andre Smith is not the answer (duh). Nick Vigel is the closest thing we have to a linebacker on the team since Vontaze isn't here even when he is. Etc at every position. New coach(es), evaluate what we have and rebuild. Maybe, at best, two years away. Probably more.
I_C_Deadpeople
We have drafted 22 players in the last two years i believe but I do not see many of them as difference makes other than Mixon. I know our draft record is OK but the past few years it has slipped, given our scouting staff is literally half the size of most teams you cant really expect them to be better than average over the long term. So that puts us at a disadvantage, then the crappy coaches compound it and the poor personnel management compounds it further. The team structure is not built to succeed so it never will. The in house medical staff still has to clear him to play, that is what they get paid for. 3. The real question is what was this “specialist’s” prognosis? If there was a chance this injury could occur in a meaningless game with the backup QB playing somebody needs firing.

The foot specialist cleared him to return. Who cares if it is a meaningless game? Now he gets to get it fixed, rehab it, and be back next season. That's one reason why they get paid millions of dollars. It's a risky sport, and you can get hurt.

Of course he said he wanted to play. He's a competitor and this is why you can't let the players make these calls. This is why we have new concussion guidelines with the NFL Concussion Protocol now. Letting AJ make the call led to him re-injuring it and going under the knife. That is stupid. Someone has to save these athletes from themselves.
