The Jets have also been linked to Monken, who was the head coach at Southern Miss before joining Dirk Koetter’s staff in Tampa. Former Jets and current Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick endorsed Monken this week.

“I’m telling you: He’s got it,” Fitzpatrick said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “He’s got the ‘It factor’ as a head coach.”

At this point, Monken is my number 1 choice.

Has called plays.

Familiar with the college, spread offense.

Did a very good job reviving Southern Miss.

His cousin is a very good coach at Army who surrounded himself with some innovative assistants. Hopefully that’s hereditary.

My my only concern is the lack of development from Winston and the horrid running game.

All things considered, he seems to be the most qualified.

He had shit for QB and RB and still had the Bucs as the #3 overall O.

that's pretty impressive.

4-5 game stretch of fitzmagic carried them to that??

plus going against the Bengals once always helps (the game they had the most yards all year)

I am not saying that he isn't the guy..they were just very pedestrian whenever they went against an decent defense

I could easily get behind him and a rookie QB.

I'll take Dalton and a rookie..but why the fuck would we want fitz.

He has like 3 good games a year and sucks the rest.

Dalton is way better than him and already under contract.

He would know Monkens system completely and ease a transition for a rookie to it.

Are you planning on the rookie starting and having Fitz to lean on and get help with the offense?  if so... maybe I can see it (still probably not)

If you are planning on Fitz starting and the rookie learning behind him...fuck that.. he can learn how to throw interceptions from anyone..

Dalton is way better than Fitz.. if the rookie can't learn the offense in a year no matter who is there..why the hell did we draft him?
