Yeah saw that.

I think we are going to have to realize they are going to be a good team now.

Browns also picked up Chris Jones from the CFL. Best coach we had up here, he was head coach for two teams and a defensive coordinator specialist, top shelf. Look for him to move up quickly through the NFL coaching circles. We are a passing league up here and his teams consistently were shut down styles, very innovative. Would have loves to see him land with the Bengals, but he coached with Kitchens in the past.

We are falling way behind in the coaching hire category with having to wait for the Chiefs to be out of the post season games.

May have to wait until after the Stupor Bowl.  Not good.

Unless he has some solid possibilities in mind, could get ugly with looking at left overs.

Don't know his contacts or connection to possible hires but with hiring coaches and them

all getting in line for the draft is going to be crunch time.

And, yes, Cleveland is getting stronger.  Some excellent young players and now

coaches who look like they weren't recruited out of Ringling Brothers, Baunum and Bailey Enterprises.

I agree but the real issue is our staff will be a month behind the power curve. It is going to be a full makeover of everything except special teams. A lot of work to do.

Who will Cincinnati Bengals hire as offensive and defensive coordinator? | Live updates

Fletcher Page, Cincinnati EnquirerPublished 11:12 a.m. ET Jan. 16, 2019 | Updated 5:04 p.m. ET Jan. 16, 2019

All has been quiet on the Cincinnati Bengals coordinator front since it was reported Zac Taylor would fill the head coaching position to lead the franchise into the future.

Taylor can't officially be announced until the Los Angeles Rams are eliminated from the playoffs. But the offensive and defensive coordinator positions, vital for a 35-year-old entering his first job as head coach, can be filled.

The latest

  • The Detroit Lions hired Darrell Bevell as offensive coordinator on Wednesday. The former Seattle Seahawks OC was reported earlier this week to be in the running to join future coach Zac Taylor's staff with the Bengals.
  • The Bengals and offensive line coach Frank Pollackparted ways earlier this week. That leaves quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt and wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell as the only offensive position coaches remaining from Marvin Lewis' staff. Special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons, secondary coach Robert Livingstonand cornerbacks coach Daronte Jones also remain. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor and special assistant Hue Jackson were among those let go last week

I'm not even sure they're going to hire a true OC because I can't imagine that Zac won't be calling the plays himself.....I would expect to see passing game coordinator and running game coordinator much like they do in LA.

Likely at least one of those guys will come from the Rams staff and I would expect his brother to be on staff in some capacity as well.

True,  but given young hotshot status of the head coach,  I was kind of hoping he'd be able to get some guys with a more padded resume on the staff. I'd feel much better if they were able to lure Sherman away for the CFL for either the OC or OL positions.

Browns forming a hell of a coaching staff.  Curious to see how well they do this year.  Hired GB OL coach...James Campen.

I hope we assemble and equally talented staff mixed with experience and youth.  I saw Colts let their OL coach go.  He did a heck of a job this year with their line.  I wouldn't mind going after him.... Dave DeGuglielmo...Guge.

I think they'll probably hire a veteran DC and will likely have Callahan as the OL coach.

Doubt we see a OC in the traditional sense though since it's likely Taylor will be doing the play calling.

Filling out the coaching Group. The biggest questions on offense are probably QB and WR coach, both of which are commonly filled with up and coming future OC types. We seem to have capable guys there already. I would bet there are guys in those spots with ex OC experience, but that's hard to project without knowing how the OC carousel lands.

OC: Aaron Kromer-Rams: I would be fine with any of Kromer, Fisch, Waldron or Taylor. This is Zac's offense and any of those 4 I think would be a good argument to run that offense. Kromer probably knows more about the Run than Zac does and it would be a good blend. Loved Jamie's argument about him.

Senior Offensive Analyst(?) AHC: Bill Callahan. Getting veterans around Zac will be especially important and Callahan has a solid coaching resume and was Zac's coach at Nebraska. He also coached with Frank Pollack in Dallas. Seems like an ideal fit.

QB: Alex Van Pelt: I don't have any thing against Van Pelt but I don't really think he lands here. I think this could be Press, it could be guys like Darrell Bevell or John DeFelipo if they don't get jobs elsewhere. Both have ties to Zac's mentors.

RB: Jeff Nixon: Nixon is currently the Co-OC and RB coach for Auburn. I consider this a promotion. He might not. He coached with Zac for years in Miami.

https://baylorbears.com/coaches.aspx?rc=81&path=football. Stump Mitchell coached with Mike Sherman on the Seahawks and was on the fired staff in NYJ last year. He is a secondary option.

WR: Ben Johnson:  Johnson was Taylor's assistant QB coach for the Dolphins when he was there and was the WR coach for Miami last year. Keeping Bicknell makes some sense. The top of the WR unit looks great. I am not sure we have seen the development from the bottom. The WR job seems to be one given to up and comers and future OC's. I don't know that, that is what Johnson is. https://www.miamidolphins.com/team/coaches-roster/ben-johnson

TE:Tony Sparano Jr: Currently the Jax assistant OL coach. Sparano's father had ties to one of his mentors but I can't remember which one. Only 32, seems like an up and comer.

OL: Frank Pollack: I like him and like him even more with

An update with Bicknell staying and Pollack leaving
