oldschooler
Bengals qualified for more compensatory picks than they received The NFL awarded the Bengals three compensatory picks for the 2019 draft, all sixth-round picks. The league said the Bengals qualified for more, but the picks are limited to 32. The league's statement said: "This year, six clubs: the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Rams, the New York Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers qualified for compensatory selections under the net loss formula but will not receive those picks because the final numerical values of the CFAs who were lost by those clubs ranked 33rd through 39th among the final numerical values of all compensatory selections." We tried the 3rd rd bit and it cost us Whit. I don't suggest we do that again

|SF2|
Just to reaffirm my status as a member of team Schleprock, here is a little history of the players we have drafted in the 6th round over the last 20 years. Here is the inspiring list in order of career AV: Kelly Gregg, Nose Tackle from Oklahoma in 1999, Career AV of 80. "Uhh, SF2, who the fuck is Kelly Gregg?" Good question. We drafted him and cut him. He was picked up by Philly for a year, sat out a year, then played at Baltimore for 9 years. Played in 153 games, 20.5 career sacks. Kimo von Oelhoffen. We all know this guy. Career AV of 56. Played like shit for us for 6 years, went to Pittspuke and had 6 pretty good years. 5 sacks for us, 20.5 for them. 198 career games 26.5 sacks, 350 tackles, most of it coming after he left us. Neal Rackers. Career AV 29. Kicker. Played 3 years for us, sucked, went to Arizona and had 7 decent years. Marquand Manuel DB, Florida. Career AV 21. Played 2 years for us and sucked. Journeyman. Had 1 or 2 ok years. Played in 116 games 58 as a starter. Matt Toeaina DT Oregon. Career AV 12. Never played for us. 6 years at Chicago, played in 36 games. Rex Burkhead RB. Career AV 12. Hardly used here for 4 years, goes to New England and puts up more stats in 2 years than here in 4. The rest of the list is 26 guys who were some Notre Dame Rudy types. Some specials teams guys and p-squad players but nobody really worth mentioning. In a nutshell, we have never drafted anyone in the sixth round that ever did much for this club other than play teams or step up for a few games due to injury like Burkhead. Comp picks are nothing more than possible teams players and camp bodies. They don't solve any real issues. The only 6th round player that ever gave us any quality minutes in the last 20 years other than Burkhead is Jeff Blake.
