Sweet Lou to overpopulate the Bengals defense with all of his stalwart sort-of minions from NYG. You just wait.

Add in every swinging dick from College Station to South Beach, and Boy Wonder will really be flying.

Everybody that runs any type of organization does that.  If you ran something, wouldn't you go and find people you knew and trusted?

How Jamie Collins and Zach Brown haven't even gotten visits yet.....

Maybe they have no interest in playing here, someone started a thread a few weeks ago that linked an article that listed the top FA destinations based on a poll of current players...Cincinnati was in the bottom 5.

When you combine a small market with a incompetent ownership group that insists on being involved in the day to day operations of the organization despite their proven inability to achieve any form of sustained success you can understand why most FA steer clear of the nasty Nati...Springdale excluded...

I doubt that many guys care much about market size so long as they're getting paid a competitive salary.  If you're one of the top players at your position, sure, the lack of recognition might be an issue.  We just need average-to-good players to fill up the holes in the roster, not necessarily superstars.

The perception of ownership, on the other hand, is a bigger problem but can also change in an instant.  Cleveland is a perfect example.  That team has been managed as poorly as anyone, but they fire a coach, win 2 games and suddenly there'a a buzz around them again.  People will forgive their failures because they look like they're trying.

Extending a guy who stunk up the field all last season does not look like a team that is trying.

Here's the thing though.  Those guys haven't signed ANYWHERE.  Has nothing to do with us and everything to do with them.

Maybe. But the thing is they aren't exactly getting calls elsewhere from what I have seen.

4 years at $54 million? It would have been a brief call for me too. Guy has averaged 11 games per season over his career.

Since when does that matter around here?
