Some FA visits: Veteran OT Jordan Mills is visiting the #Bengals tonight and tomorrow, source said.

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to be more active in free agency than usual.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals will host offensive tackle Jordan Mills on a visit Monday and into Tuesday.

Mills, 28, was a fifth-round pick in 2013 and has played for two different teams. He was the right tackle in Buffalo last year and hasn’t missed a game since 2015.

The LSU product had a visit with Houston earlier in free agency, but the Texans decided to sign Matt Kalil.

Cincinnati brought back Bobby Hart on a deal that made it seem like he was the surefire starter going into next season. There is an outside chance adding Mills could change that outlook — as well as open up the draft in a big way.

That whole post is crap. How is this FA any different? They always get stragglers. And anybody that thought the Bobby Hart signing meant he was a lock to start is an idiot.

Hopefully we can get this done.  It would give us three Tackles with starters experience, and wouldn't eliminate the ability to still pick a Rookie in the first or second round.

That would go a long way towards getting this thing back on track.   Think an OT in the first 3 round is just about mandatory no matter what happens in FA.

Agree.  Not a Hart fan but he is durable and way better than Ced or Fisher. Add in another average tackle and this O line is at least average which isn't a bad thing. Hopefully Price lives up to his draft slot as well.

Average would be a huge improvement.  I'm sure it's hard to evaluate individual performance when the unit is getting beat that bad. (Unless you're PFF and pulling numbers out of your ass.)  Good players are minimized trying to pick up slack for the spud next to them.  Getting back to average gives us the luxury of time to develop a 3rd or 4th rounder who maybe has the ability but didn't play for a premier school etc, or focus on that top OL prospect even if they're an interior player.

And play Westerman over Redmond. Draft Guard depth mid to late rounds?

A bit of good news.

https://www.cincyjungle.com/2019/4/4/18295305/bengals-re-sign-trey-hopkins

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals have officially re-signed Trey Hopkins to a one-year contract.

Hopkins, a fourth-year player in 2019, was issued a tender this offseason that made him a restricted free agent (RFA) when free agency opened. The Bengals issued Hopkins a second-round tender, all but assuring no other team would attempt to pry him from the Bengals.

A restricted free agent has the right to negotiate with other teams, and an their 2018 club has the right to retain him by matching any offer he signs from another team. But because Cincinnati extended a second-round tender to Hopkins, if he signed an offer from another team and the Bengals choose to not match that offer, the other team would have to compensate the Bengals with their 2019 second-round draft selection.

Hopkins started at guard and center for the Bengals in 2019. He’s also capable of playing offensive tackle, so even if he doesn’t start next season, he’s a valuable backup that the Bengals were smart to re-sign this offseason.

Hopkins joins Bobby Hart as starting linemen to re-sign with the Bengals this offseason.
