I wouldn't say he was severely overpaid. He's a top QB and the cap keeps going up every year. He could have made more by playing the tag game with Seattle. By the 2nd tag, he'd be making more than the average in this contract.

Remember when some fans on this site used to say Andy was better than Russell....lol

He's not over paid; guys like Stafford, Cousins, Garoppolo, and Carr haven't won in the playoffs, much yet won a Super Bowl, but are still making comparable money.

Russell does play better as the games get bigger. Cool cat under pressure.

...at least for 59 and a half minutes.

He definitely hasn't been the same player since the days where he was surrounded by premium talent on both sides of the ball......sound familiar?

It does sound familiar.  It sounds like every QB in the NFL outside of maybe 2-3 at most.   We should definitely give up our draft for more magic beans instead of learning how to win without one.

He had a spectacular year last year.  QB rating of 110 behind a line every bit as bad as ours.  35 TD passes.   Finished the season 7-1.

Never missed a game in 7 years, worst season was 9 wins, lifetime QB rating of over 100 is 12 points higher than Dalton.

He should have two rings if not for idiotic play calling and a great defensive play. Everyone talked about the Legion of Boom but Wilson and the offense were a top ten unit with average players.

He certainly deserves more money than Carr, Stafford and Cousins. All three are horribly overpaid but that is how the league has moved pay wise.

He did have a good year last year for sure....and missed the playoffs.

Just goes to show how much the surrounding cast truly means.

They MADE the playoffs last year without his surrounding cast.  He has only missed the playoffs once with a 9-7 record in 2017.  He led the league in TD passes with 34 that year and a 95.4 passer rating.

Wilson is 8-5 in the playoffs with a 94.9 passer rating and 21 TDs.  He, Mahomes and Rodgers will the best QBs in the league going forward.

Russell Wilson should never be the highest paid player in the NFL.

Not even for a moment.

Whichever good QB hits the market that offseason becomes the new highest paid player by default, seems like it happens almost every year.

In 2017 Wilson not only led the league in TD passes, he led the Seahawks in rushing yards. They went run heavy last year and he increased his TD totals. The guy is a gamer. His career passer rating is the 2nd highest of all time. He's never missed a start. He played every QB snap for the Seahawks last year.  If you don't pay a guy like that top dollar, you're making a mistake.

It’s just a matter of timing. The Quitter was the highest paid QB for a small period of time if memory serves me correctly and he wasn’t the best QB in the league.
