It's worked out really well for Burfict and Pacman hasn't it?

I'm gonna beat that dead horse and complain about you lumping those two together, it's not fair at all.  Burfict hits other football players too hard, if he played 10 years ago he'd be a future HoF'er. Pacman is getting thrown out of casinos, spitting on cops and on and on.  Pac's driving drunk the wrong way up an on-ramp while Taze is home with his woman watching Antiques Roadshow and feeding their dogs popcorn.  Taze may be an undisciplined football player but he's not some degenerate manchild run amok.  If it wasn't for Pac's stupid ass & Hill's butterfingers we'd all remember Burfict for the biggest INT in team history.

The way the fans, team, and local media have thrown him under the bus disturbs me, but it is what it is.

I really didn't want Pacman on this team but I will be the first to admit he gave us 5 very good years and some other years he was a decent backup for our starters.  Yeah, always an issue off the field but the reality is he only missed one game with us in 8 years due to conduct. Jones was a pro-bowler at age 32. He missed only 9 games in his last 6 years with the Bengals and that included a combined 136 punt and kickoff returns.  He was very good player for us for a long time as NFL careers go.

You can try and explain the issues with Burfict but the reality is the rules have changed and after only 7 years and at only 28 years of age he looks washed up. He has missed 38 games in the last 6 years and hasn't really played well since the later half of the 2015 season.  He was one of the worst linebackers in the league last year by every metric.

Oh yeah I think Burfict is probably finished, whoever we want to blame for it.

Well, he only missed 6 games due to illegal hits for his career.   The other 32 games were due injury or PED use (4 games).   If he can't tackle without lowering his helmet then he can't play in the 2019 version of the NFL without getting fined.  46 players were suspended for any number of games last year.

In 2019 there were:

45 roughing the passer fines.

9 illegal use of helmet fines

15 hit on defenseless player fines

13 helmet to helmet fines

4 blindside block fines.

41 players were fined multiple times last year.  8 were fined 3 or more times.  Burfict is NOT unique.

How many showed up in that list more than once? How many of them were suspended or ejected from games?

Honest question.

Already answered:   41 fined more than once.  7  fined more three times, 1  4 times.    21 in game ejections last year.

Burfict fined 2 x last season.  4 games suspended for PEDs.

Misread the 41 part. No suspensions? Missing the first 4 has been shitty.

It’s really his position. The majority of guys being fined are Safeties, LBs or defensive ends. They are the ones doing the hitting.

That & the insistence on 60 pt games is why I think the defense-first team is a thing of the past & we should have most of our money on that side of the ball invested in cover guys (to include OLB).  Pass rush disappears too much with the rarity of holding calls.  Best way to improve our defense is have a running game.

Right now we just need guys that can tackle, I'd hope that can be found outside the top 10 in the draft.

Not sure why anyone would expect Turner to blast any of his new players.  He seems to show at least some self awareness and I don't believe most of what he says anyway.  His reputation as a jackass seems deserved, but his role in the Dolphins "bullying" scandal is overstated.  He certainly made some mistakes, but you can't blame him for Incognito and Martin both being batshit crazy in different ways.  He should be judged based on results and he's one of the few assistant coaches who isn't young and inexperienced.  The o-line was already in full rebuild mode and front office will need to get him better talent to work with for him to have a chance to succeed.
