Sort of like Rams/Saints this past playoff year :YouDontSay-min:

Hey, speaking of championship victory snatched by officiating (the AI version), yesterday's CL 2nd leg between City and Spurs was a doozy. There, different from the Ram/Saints infamy, the non-call on the pitch allowing Sterling to score what appeared to be the eliminating goal, was reversed by VAR and ruled offside. Spurs advance, and City out. The machine made the right call (albeit it was more akin to your average NFL holding non-call), but the 30-second difference between absolute joy and absolute devastation, was stark.

Think the Saints would have been more than pleased to have VAR? The NFL wouldn't touch it with a 1,000 mile pole.

The league would have masterbated in public to have a Brees vs Brady Super Bowl.  The commercial buy ins would have been staggering. Your analysis sucks.

You bypass the point: the NFL will never allow anything other than human control to influence their plans. Drew Brees, as great as he is, has been forgotten by the majority of the purchasing public. The Saints--other than the post-Katrina feel good year--are as relevant to NY media-driven products/entertainment, as the Detroit Pistons are to the NBA money-machines. The opponent for Brady was not important--but LA probably stirred the moguls maybe a hair more.

Again: the NFL would no more touch an artificial/non-biased arbiter for the determination of game-altering (and controllable) calls, such as VAR, than they would go back to having games on Sunday afternoons only. It would expose them completely for the corrupt frauds that they are. And you know it.

For an example of the shield doing anything it wants, look no further than our Chargers game where for some odd reason they didn't want Driskell to have a touchdown. Giving himself up? That's what a slide is for. No other QB gets fucked like that. I know this was an irrelevant situation in the grand scope of the season, but it's discouraging to know that your team can get fucked at any given moment.

It's every weekend, in multiple games.  Watch a couple of teams play where you don't care who wins & it becomes glaring.

What is far more glaring then any NFL favoritism or conspiracy is the obvious fact that the Bengals are one of the worst run franchises for 30 years yet still get as much shared revenue as the good teams. Watch any season and you can see it. Watch Mikey run his office like a local barber shop and you can see it.

There is an old adage that you should only worry about what you can control. This team puts itself in a position to be be shuffled aside by the league. Mikey is a barnacle on the great sea ship NFL. He does little to increase the overall value of the league so why would they do him any favors?

How in the hell do the Super Bowl teams wind up with the 2nd weakest schedule? Are their divisions that bad that they pull down the percentage??

They play 3 of the worst teams in the NFL twice.   We play the Stealers, Ratbirds and now Clowns twice, they play Larry, Moe and Schimf (Curly Joe was too good)..

Only 2 games are determined by last year’s results.  As a division winner NE gets Houston and KC.  The rest is based on rotating through other divisions and 2 games against teams in their own division.

They are 44-8 against their division since 2010. I didn't count 2 final season losses where their bye was already locked up and their starters didn't play much.  It must be nice to be able to pencil in 5-1 in the division almost every year.  Their only chosen games are against two good playoff teams.  There is no conspiracy unless the NFL is intentionally making Buffalo, the Jets and Dolphins,...SUCK.

No, they have an afternoon Thursday game on Thanksgiving. But no evening games all year (unless they get flexed in).

An afternoon Thanksgiving day game for the whole country to watch is about as primetime as you can get.

There's a turkey joke in there somewhere.

Maybe a few folks outside the organization are starting to buy in?  One or two of the talking heads in our corner would be a nice change.  That kind of thing could work wonders for public perception.

This my point.  This is a team whose own fan base hasnt wanted to attend and watch games.  What is so shocking about people not wanting to tune in nationwide?

The only thing that will change public perception would be a bold unexpected move on draft day and/or winning/playoffs and a few post season victories.

Like Cleveland you mean? Oh wait, they were 7-9 last year.

You're a Good Team when a critical mass of media goons say you are, simple as that. It has nothing to do with record.  The hype train doesn't run on facts.

Nobody has said Cleveland is a good team yet or has accomplished anything,  they are an INTERESTING team.   They have made a bunch of moves recently and finished on a positive note last season.  Their new outspoken QB seems to be legitimate and they just picked up OBJ who is game changing WR when he is not having temper tantrums.  Again, they are interesting and full of guys with outspoken personalities.   The NFL is entertainment; drama, prima donnas, trash talkers and winners get noticed.    If Jerry Jones acted like Mike Brown and Dez Bryant acted like AJ Green nobody would have cared about the Cowboys the last few years.

Some guys are predicting the Browns win the division, so what.  Predictions happen every year and many are wrong.   Many have us last but some have us near the top.  Our problem is we are not an interesting team.  Nobody outside of Cincy cares about Andy Dalton and few care about AJ Green.  Geno Atkins is a great player but plays on a boring team.   We were FAR more interesting when the Quitter,  Chad and TJ were on team.  Chad got us noticed.  It didnt equate to more success but people were talking about us.

Don't try to backpedal now, the hype around Cleveland this off season goes well beyond "they are interesting".  They've gone from sub-.500 to winning the division and playoff hopes without playing a game. You can try to justify it afterwards but it's hype. They added a couple of the better players from other losing teams.  You were just going on about how we have to earn the media's admiration by winning and now you're saying it's about being "interesting".

The sports media is fickle and enjoys playing kingmaker, particularly this time of year when there are no 5-game losing streaks to prove them wrong. There's no great logic to it.

Landry and OBJ will have a fist fight before the season is halfway over. And they will bully Mayfield like Ocho and TJ did to the quitter when he can't throw the ball to both of them every play.
