Not sure what’s worse.  The pick or the fact your husband has notes and charts out lol

Puh-leeze. You’re talking about a man who has every Browns game charted going back to 1983. This is nothing. 😉😂

This was the last "hole" on the offense for 2019. I agree it's an over reach but they needed a TE who could block. He didn't drop a pass last year in college and he has elite athleticism. Seems like a guy who could develop. I am looking on the bright side of a too early pick.

Or traded down once for a second 4th round pick and then used it to take Sample?  Reminds me of the chain-smoker TE dude from one of the Cal St's (or something) we wasted a 2nd or 3rd on a while back.

I don’t know what you call elite athleticism because he ran in the 4.7’s and his vert and broad are ok. I don’t mind the pick but in the fourth or fifth round.

My thoughts:

He will probably be good in the role they took him for.  Excellent blocker and he will make things a little easier for Mixon and Dalton.  I don't hate him, or think he will be a bad player.  He's certainly going to be better than Brewskie. ( ).

Had we taken him in 4 I'd be ok with it and in 5 I'd like it.  But there were much better players available at 52.

There's no way to sugarcoat this pick.  It's a massive reach and this guy could have been taken several rounds later.  TE was a need after losing Kroft and it appears they fell in love with Sample despite limited production in college.  It's hard to understand why a blocking specialist could be seen as worthy of such a high pick, but supposedly it is going to be needed in Taylor's scheme.  I'm fine with the trade down and the extra 4th rounder could offset some of the stink of this pick.

Literally everyone outside the Bengals draft room (besides, apparently, you) is trying to figure out why we drafted this guy in the 2nd round, but ok..
