Are you wanting to tank right now for picks?

Recommended Posts

Who are these QBs you speak of? Brady...who else?
You're picking in the top 3 for a reason. Pick the f'n QB!
Believe it or not, but starting O-Lineman can be had in the middle rounds, even if this dumb team has rarely been able to do it.

No don’t pick the fn QB. The lines on both sides of the ball need fixed and you go with best player available and that is Chase Young. He disrupts and makes big time plays in key spots.

Honest question: Is the team better off overpaying a bit for a proven LB in FA and another decent player(?) or resigning Green?  We have way more depth at WR than LB.

Guys like Zach Brown and Denzel Perryman could have really helped at a reasonable price.

It really depends, Green's piled up some injuries & I think would thrive in more of a rotation.  Our WR's have made plays but nobody has his consistency yet.  It would take a really nice trade offer, put it that way.  Someone that can more afford to gamble on his recovery?  He was due back weeks ago from what they were telling us, IDK what to think.

Philly got Brown for $1,5M

Perryman got $5M guaranteed & $12M  over 2 years.

Yeah that would've been nice but we don't have the staff to identify & then coach up players like that.

This "No LB's is a scheme" bullshit is a flop, that's for sure.

Bengals problem is they not only use draft picks poorly, they overpay the wrong guys in free agency.  Good management could turn the team's resources into wins but the Bengals don't have the requisite good management. These are the folks who traded up for Bodine and passed on Watson and Mahomes. Bengals are bout 60 mil under the cap for 2020 with only Green as a high priced free agent. He doesn't deserve a raise. If he really wants to stay here, something like 3 years, 45 mil with about half the money paid in per game active roster bonuses would be fair. If he doesn't agree to that, he'll be tagged for about 17 mil.

The team can easily clear 16 mil in cap space by cutting Glenn, Preston Brown, and Hart. If we take a QB with our top draft pick, we'd need a veteran backup. It doesn't have to be Dalton at 17 mil though. Five or six mil is the going rate. So the team could easily have 70 mil available for free agency. The problem is other teams also have lots of cap space and better recruiting pitches. We'll have to overpay mightily to get average talent but at least we'll have the funds to do so.

Slow down there big guy, you have already made multiple moves and Mikey can't run the team at that speed, it makes him dizzy.

The sad thing is that apart from making a trade today, all the things I listed can be done in the offseason. Upgrade the coaching staff, sign some decent free agents, draft in the spots earned. A good and active management could do so much more but even a plodding management that knew what to do could keep up with that.
