Herbert instead of Burrow? So Says paul alexander... 2 months ago.

No chance. Zero. Latest Hobs with ZT continues to show no chance. If there was ANY lean that way he would be signaling it in his columns.  Basically latest column said they are spending max allowable of three hours a week with him on zoom - my guess is he already has the offense...

here’s that Hobson piece and two excerpts from it on point:

Quote

The only thing you didn't get to a chance to see was a guy throw 40 throws in front of you," (re: Burrow) said Taylor of the cancellation (of the  LSU pro day). "At the end of the day, what does that really give you in the grand scheme of things? Sometimes that's a big factor if you take a guy in the fifth or sixth round. Something like that. We've had plenty of exposure to the guys that have put themselves in position to be the No. 1 pick. We feel very confident with whoever we decide to take."

...

We are now in the Zooming '20s, where those video conferences are becoming a way of life and the NFL Draft is no different. Teams can have three hours of contact with a prospect per week, no more than an hour at a time. Safe to say that in the past month or so Burrow's image has appeared in more Bengals coach’s homes than Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

Zero upside to taking Herbert short term, ZERO.  It would simply piss off the fan base to no end to make this move.  Maybe if they took 3 picks from Miami and did it people might buy in but drafting him with the #1 would set of a torrent of negative publicity.

The only way this would make sense is if we traded out of the top-5 and got a HAUL to do it.  I’m talking 5 1st rounders, 3 2nd rounders and a 2 3rds just for fun...and maybe we swap 7th round picks so it’s not too lopsided.

It's pretty clear he was just trying to trend so people wouldn't forget he exists.  Why else would he need to desperately try to claim he has inside info?  And why use his 23-year tenure as proof?  Why not just say he has inside info?  Because it's bullshit.  It's the same reason MJD put the same move in his mock.  He didn't give any compelling reasons why, he just said "AFC North blah blah".  Just trying to trend with clickbait, nothing to see here.

The city would burn down if they did this.

Coach Ketchup is on Sirius NFL all the time, loves to talk about Whit and Steinbach but somehow never mentions the shit he helped draft in the last 10 years of his tenure. The other day he compared a draft prospect to Bodine and then said that makes him a 4th round prospect...

He enjoys attention

Paul the Ketchup Whisperer couldn't find his own ass with both hands and a kick-start.   He's trolling.

Hes wanted all over the NFL for his old time coaching abilities plus his expertise

on teams in the league..

Thats why hes coaching in the German league..

Good luck and riddence Pauley...

When a coach has an "unorthodox system" and his players aren't consistently outperforming others the writing is on the wall.   For all Marvin's faults, being saddled with untouchables in this guy & Bratfailski really set him up to fail.  I don't think it's entirely their fault any more than it is his, but they certainly weren't helping anything.   Stubborn loyalty to bad coaches has been a theme here.  I hope they give Skippy the power to make those calls for himself & he has the sense to put the team over personal loyalty.  Despite appearances this isn't meant to be a country club for everyone's friends and family.  Yet another example of how an organization follows the lead of the people at the top.
