mgbrown66
You have three years to fix both lines, and the defense. Burrow is the real deal. He doesn’t need first round playmakers. Trade down and fix the trenches.

Hell, he threw like 5 catchable TD balls that our "stars" choked on, so, just protect the guy so he can glue the ball to no-namers that can catch a ball. mgbrown66
Burrow learns this year like his junior year at LSU. Trade down and amass line talent. This teams defense is horrific.
tibor75
Look at all the Ohio State players drafted in the first round in the last 5 years. Most of them have produced or the jury is still out (Haskins). Who is the worst? Billy Price.
mgbrown66
A.J. greens are worthless. Spend that money on OLineman and real pass rushers. We all love Sam Hubbard and Dunlap, but they stink.
mgbrown66
If they don’t trust price enough to start him tonight, he sucks. Move on.. fire the person who drafted him and Ross instead of mahomes and anyone else. Before you ruin Burrow.
sparky151
Yeah, it's kind of scary how badly Tobin has missed on O-linemen. We've used 3 firsts and a second rounder on O-linemen in the last few years and one of them started last night. Shockingly, the 2 guys we got as street free agents aren't very good and will get the franchise QB killed. It seems clear that Tobin can't judge O-linemen by his draft results and Taylor and Turner can't judge them based on their willingness to keep Hart on the roster and start Fred Johnson over Price. Jamie_B
It's weird that the title of this thread is "Draft better" and then we talk about trading down. The fact they don't draft better when it comes to the middle of the 1st round and later rounds makes me NOT want them to trade down.
mgbrown66
Best scenario this year is to continue to suck, and trade the overall #1 pick for a haul.
sparky151
It will be sad if we're drafting ahead of Jacksonville. But yes, we can auction off the Trevor Lawrence pick if we get it. A couple of pro bowl players plus a couple of first rounders should do it.

Last week most on this board we screaming for Johnson to replace Hart. We got a look at Johnson and he is even worse! Now the experts want to see Price. The Bengals can’t draft linemen for shit, but they seem to play the best ones they have. They are playing the players that suck the least from the evidence we’ve seen. mgbrown66
I’d like to see them fix the OLine through free agency. Use the draft for BPA.

Bad call to even stick him there.. He had 131 snaps at tackle last year at tackle and didnt embarrass himself.. Hes not a guard...period... We are down to Adenijji... But where?...RT or RG... It is very, very unusual to have a guy that can't play guard, but is good at tackle. Frankly, pun intended, I've never heard of it. You don't play Adenjii anywhere until he is ready. Spotto
It can't be that hard, let's trade next year's no 1 pick; use the extra picks on the line... either side of the ball.
T-Dub
Every team misses on draft picks sometimes. Part of the problem here is the coaches also serving as halfassed scouts, which encourages them to draft "project" players, but the main issue is they aren't willing to admit mistakes. So long as starters are chosen based on draft position & money owed instead of ability this team is going to struggle.

You can't say that about he offensive line and this coaching staff. The RT is a waiver claim. The interior of the line are late draft picks and a 1st rounder is planted on the bench. When new guys come in they are worse than the guy they replaced. That thought is a holdover from the Lewis administration.

I_C_Deadpeople
Go look through the Pats drafts, they have had many years of crappy drafts - they just compensate in other ways. Remember that story on the Athletic earlier this year where an agent mentioned he kind of felt sorry for the team because they are trying to compete with 1/3rd of the staff of the other teams. Even if your scouts were top tier you still would have bad drafts if the department itself was 1/3rd the size of others. Drafting is just one part of the team, this is the first year we really dove into FA (out of necessity not because we were a player or two away at a key spot); then there is coaching on top of that. Is anyone here thinking our staff is as good as say the Ravens, Pats or Seahawks? Not even close. This team, as it is built simply has to climb up three times the size hill of the top teams to get to the same peak. We put ourselves at every possible disadvantage. -GoBengals-
didnt we have 3 injured DT's? while the D-line and linebackers got stomped to bits. its just a perfect storm, young linebackers in their 5th day of NFL games, and a D-line with essentially 1 guy. and that rest is history.. now i think maybe we give up like 40 less rushing yards with everyone healthy. but its not like we are starting from scratch. We have essentially already rebuilt the entire LB screw, and need 1-2 guys on the D-Line, which seems to be stacked each year. given that we grabbed like 7 free agents this past offseason, it wouldnt exactly be shocking to do the same and grab a lineman or two on top of drafting someone. Not to mention we have 2-3 guys that are young enough and still learning that could/should produce at least one solid lineman. so IMO, we have Jonah who will be good, and 1-2 other guys who should end up solid. so grab 1-2 guys in draft or FA and 1 more in the other, and the line should be solid. Assuming we can keep joe healthy, I am enjoying this year a LOT. its nice to feel like you are in any game. an onside kick away from throwing a few potential game winning bombs, a BS PI call or leg cramp away from OT or a WIN... for the last 9 years you just hoped for a hail mary tipped to a wide open AJ or soemthing. Burrow is no joke.. love it.

Elite WRs do NOT make teams better, they just don't. Who were the top receivers from last year on playoff teams? Michael Thomas? 2nd rounder. Kelce, 3 rounder. In fact of the top 10 receivers, only Kelce (tight end) and Thomas were on playoff teams, neither a top 10 pick or even close. WASTED PICK

WASTED PICK Totally agree, but the casual fan doesn't get excited by OL picks. I halfway suspect the team thought drafting Burrow was enough to win people over & don't really care what happens after that. I have to admit they did throw a lot of money at the defense in FA. It just hasn't amounted to much yet.
