I started to compile a list of potential candidates and look at their coaching connections but that will have to likely wait for another year. That might not be a bad thing because there might be a ton of openings and as I looked only a handful of coaches I was excited about. (That all changes if Zimmer gets let go). So I shifted to who we would replace in the staff. I think there are three layers Layer 1: Guys we want gone no matter what. Layer 2: Guys who we wouldn't hate if they replaced if they found an upgrade. Layer 3: Guys who have been impressive. Layer 1: Turner Layer 2: Everyone but Taylor, Callahan and Simmons Layer 3: Taylor Callahan and Simmons It's time to replace Turner. If we hope to draft Sewell we can't put this young raw guy in his hands. Options (Obviously there are tons of other options, these are just the connections to our staff and the team) 1. Jack Bicknell-Bicknell coached at Auburn this last year so he is presumably available as they replaced their head coach. Bicknell coached with Taylor in Miami (with Ben Martin and Jim Turner actually) and he is our WR coaches brother. https://auburntigers.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/jack-bicknell-jr-/3345 2. Mike Sherman-Coached OL quite a bit and is Taylor's father in law. Coached with Taylor at multiple places. 3. Ron Prince-Coached with Callahan in Detroit. Was last head coach at Howard where he was dismissed for behavior that seems similar to Turner's in Miami. https://theundefeated.com/features/howard-university-administrators-deserve-blame-for-truncated-ron-prince-era/ 4. James Cregg-LSU's OL coach who coached with Callahan in Denver. May be unlikely to leave LSU but after a 5-5 season who knows. https://lsusports.net/staff-directory/james-cregg/304 5. Frank Pollack-Obviously we would all love to have him back and he is likely to be available with the Jets replacing Gase. https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/coaches-roster/frank-pollack So now Turner is replaced but outside of the OC I don't know who else they would replace. No one is obviously irreplaceable or must be replaced amongst Pitcher, Bicknell, Singleton and Casey. 1. Jim Bob Cooter: Has coached RBs, QBs and been an OC. Currently with the Jets and likely available. Coached often with Callahan both in Denver and Detroit. https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/coaches-roster/jim-bob-cooter 2. Adam Gase: Has been a QBs coach and WRs coached. Everything he has touched lately has been awful and I am not sure I want him near Burrow but he was at one point good enough as a QBs coach to be an OC and good enough at that to get 2 head jobs. https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/coaches-roster/adam-gase 3. Greg Knapp: Was the QBs coach in Denver when Callahan was the assistant. Currently the QBS coach in Atlanta and he might be out with Quinn's firing. https://www.atlantafalcons.com/team/coaches-roster/greg-knapp 4. Ben Johnson: Coached with Taylor in Miami and is now on staff in Detroit as TE's coach. https://www.detroitlions.com/team/coaches-roster/ben-johnson#:~:text=Ben Johnson enters his first, team's offensive quality control coach. 5. Phil McGeoghan: Coached WRs at Miami with Taylor and coaches the same position for LAC now. https://www.chargers.com/team/coaches-roster/phil-mcgeoghan 6. Bill Lazor: Bears OC right now and Nagy might be out. Was the OC in Miami with Taylor. https://www.chicagobears.com/team/coaches/bill-lazor 7. Jim Caldwell: Free Agent right now but interviewed already for the head spot in Houston. Was Callahan's head coach in Detroit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Caldwell_(American_football) I would be most excited about Cooter and Knapp. Probably upgrades. Defense is light on connections but they could always go outside like we said. If you are replacing Anarumo 1. Aubrey Pleasant interviewed last time and could be combined with Wade Phillips, who wants to work, to make an exciting upgrade. https://www.therams.com/team/coaches-roster/aubrey-pleasant If you aren't replacing Anarumo 1. James Bettcher was Anarumo's DC in NYG before he came over. He didn't coach last year. https://www.giants.com/team/coaches-roster/james-bettcher

saphead
Zach is safe for now. If he goes 2-14 each year with the 2 W's coming against those inbred fuck stains up the river then he stays as long as he wants.
sparky151
I hope Taylor isn't safe but your Tier 1 should include Anarumo and Golden as well as Turner. Taylor certainly doesn't belong in Tier 3. What has Callahan done that is impressive? He's the OC but not the playcaller. A guy to add would be Mike Munchak as O-line coach. He has the job in Denver but Fangio may be out. Of course he'll have other options and be in demand so paying up for him wouldn't be a Bengals-like move. Elway himself is on thin ice in Denver but they're having an ownership fight so everyone may be safe until that is settled. Munchak took the Denver job because his daughter lives there. He's such a good coach he got Bolles to play at a level worthy of an extension. If we can't get Munchak, Pollak would be fine. It's not as if there is a shortage of O-line coaches better than Turner. I could live with Studrawa if he wants to try the NFL.
MichaelWeston
I think Turner is most likely gone. |High School Harry|
Once again, your research and expertise at laying it out boggles my little pea brain. Excellent work, Goo. Small potatoes and minor, way down on the coaching totem pole (oops... a PC no no), we had a assistant strength coach or something named Braydon Coombs. He is the son of Cincinnati high school coaching legend, Colerain High School's Kerry Coombs. Deep, deep Cincinnati roots and ties. He left here and went to Denver in some capacity (too lazy to look it up) and was recently let go. I would not be surprised to see him back in some capacity. Minor, to be sure, but in the food chain. Grooming with Coombs? Whatever. Cheap drama. As an afterthought, we had an assistant linebacker coach named Marcus Lewis. Imagine that. He left and is now a Defensive Analyst with the Arizona Sun Devils. Imagine that. Wonder if he will resurface here?

I would 100% expect him back. He was beloved here. Colt Anderson is our Assistant Special Teams coach. I think we can find some sort of home for Coombs.
