Jersey Change?

I really don't get this hang up on fashion. This isn't a fashion show. If they win whatever they wear will look good. I hate these suspected new jerseys. I like the white sides because they will catch the eye in Burrow's peripheral vision where contrast matters. They are simply easier to see.  I don't want him to have to look directly at a WR to see where he is before he has to to get the throw off.  Maybe this football fashion sense is a new age thing and I am just too old. I don't see anything wrong with the current uniforms and I would rather they spend the money they are using to look good toward actually being good. But maybe its just me.

There's also the very valid argument that football, and the rest of pro sports is a colossal, unimportant waste of time. But you like what you like, right? People find different shit important.
If having white stripes on the side of the jersey has any impact on a team's performance I will literally eat a jersey. (NOTE, it doesn't).

Jerseys make money (for the league and ownership), not the other way around.

Here are some mock ups of the jerseys with pads and one with a proper cut to it instead of a bootleg one. Look much better than the Ebay pics. I like em a lot better 2nd time I looked at em. 1st time looking at the black one I could have swore I was looking at a Jim McMahon jersey. It's weird how the black ones now have orange stripes and the helmet has black ones. Throws it off a bit but really nothing else could be done if they wanted the  background stripes gone. They're not bad, I can tell they're definitely gonna grow on me just from liking them better the 2nd time I looked at em. Could be better but could be much much worse. My favorite ones will probably still be my throwback Esiason one from Super bowl era and the Corey Dillon Takeo Spikes era ones with the thicker stripes. Love both of em, best jerseys of all time in any sport in my opinion. The orange looks damn close to my Orange Peter Warrick Jersey from back when they started wearing and selling the orange alternates for the 1st time. Minor differences like the stripes in a different pattern and no team name on the chest but the sleeves were solid 1 color just like the new ones

Meh.  Pretty plain-jane, but at least it's not the white jerseys with the gawd-awful orange shoulder panel.  With they'd at least broken it up a little with the orange collar band on the black jersey and vice versa or maybe the leaping tiger.

I get that. Always follow the money. I just don't get why so many of the fans are so into it. I really don't care what they wear as long as they are visible downfield.

The three or four remaining listings were all ended by the seller, as well. I'd say either he/she wasn't prepared for the listings to make national headlines and wanted to shy away from the attention, or they received a friendly message from the league and/or the team.

My guess is door number 2.

How does apparel sales work?  Is it shared revenue, team only revenue or some kind of mix?  I know Seattle has been #1 for apparel sales for the last few years.  The Burrow unis last year moved us up a bit.

Definitely better. Still, not really digging the Chicago Bears style numbers. Also, considering the stripes on this uniform are orange, I feel like this uni would look better with an inverted bengals helmet.

Fuct thing is that the league has yet to figure out a way to keep these leaks from happening. Couple years ago when Tennessee was preparing to unveil their shitty new costumes they were organizing a huge outdoor event downtown with fireworks and shit. Three days before some guy in Singapore or someplace posts some very unflattering open box photos and the whole event was a turkey as everyone had seen everything already. wa wa wa.. lol

That's crazy. Didn't something similar happen with the Falcons and they had to bump up their reveal date as damage control? Wonder if something similar happens with the Bengals.

You know I didn't pull the importance of contrast in peripheral out of my butt. My neighbor two doors down is an Ocular surgeon and he is the one who told me. IMO if Burrow can see more thru his peripheral vision it seems to me that would enable him to process targets faster. You say it doesn't. Excuse me if I take the word of a vision specialist over your opinion. I don't care about how fashionable or unfashionable the uniforms are. If they win whatever they wear will be fashionable. But I do care it they have even the slightest effect on performance.

In today's 'always online' world it is hard to keep anything under wraps. One person in one place that has a hand in these things snaps a picture and away it goes.

Not to mention there are plenty of folks with time, interest, and a particular set of skills that could easily hack those photos from the Bengals, their ad agency, or Nike.

Football games can turn on the smallest of things. Even if it is a small thing it is worth considering.

Dude, that is freaking awesome. Get rid of the outline around the numbers, put the 70s era striping on the pants, and burn the orange jerseys to the ground. Then  I'd be pretty damn happy.

it’s a double-edged sword.  Whatever makes it easier for our QB to see his receivers, also makes it easier for the opposing QB to see our defenders.

[We just need to get the league to allow our offense and defense to wear different jersey colors.]

Every time The Bengals are in black, the other team is in white. Total contrast. The field is green.
I'm gonna go with 0.0000000000% chance of that stupid white panel giving Burrow or any Bengals QB a visual performance advantage on the field.
If anything it's a distraction for Burrow, pondering 'that's the dumbest fuckin theory I've ever heard of - oops I should have passed the ball!'

Remind me again how many Super Bowl championship teams wore darks with a white inner side panel?
