My guess is the Bengals rank is Chase-Pitts-Sewell.

Secondary question, if we take Pitts I assume no WR until at least round 3?

I agree on rank.

I actually think we can pick up a good WR in FA.  Teams always seem to let a few good ones go due to cap issues after the draft.  Josh Gordon is available!!!

I'm still holding out hope for Trai Turner myself.

Don't disagree there, but Turner is another reclamation project.  Counting on those guys hasn't worked well at all recently.

I realize that he only played 9 games last year but the year before last he was a pro-bowler. One year injured is not that far removed from that that I think it's worth the investment on something like a 1 year deal.

The only reason I would suggest doing that is due to Zach Taylor's statements earlier this year, that his starting tackles are set. I actually don't believe that statement holds much water, TBH. I think he made that statement given the resources AT THAT TIME and after the draft that could all change and should change. That would be the only reason I would suggest they play Sewell at guard based upon those statements.

Now, what I would do is start him at right tackle from day one and move Reiff inside to right guard. So when you're attempting to speak for me in particular please make sure you state my feelings on that matter correctly, OK?

You make a good point..

Sewell is training to play both sides now..

I could see Reiff moving inside and letting Sewell start at RT..

In all honesty I believe he has more upside at either spot than both Reiff and  Williams..

You can never have enough Top linemen

in this league...and Sewell will be just that imo..

Its not like theyre stocked with good talent there..

Draft this young stud ...

NFL Draft scouts’ poll: Best overall player, favorite guy to scout …

This is the 37th year Bob McGinn has written an NFL Draft Series. Previously, it appeared in the Green Bay Press-Gazette (1985-2001), the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (1992-2017) and BobMcGinnFootball.com (2018-19). Until 2014, personnel evaluators often were quoted by name. The series reluctantly adopted an all-anonymous format in 2015 at the request of most scouts. The Top 100 and position rankings are linked below.

Ranks: Top 100 | QBs | RBs | WR/TE | OL | DL | LB | DB | Specialists

A year ago, the personnel evaluators basically had it right.

When 19 NFL scouting executives were asked beforehand to name the best player in the 2020 draft, 13 tabbed edge rusher Chase Young of Ohio State and just four voted for LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Young was everything Washington hoped he would be en route to being named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. The Bengals’ Burrow was in contention for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and the overall top rookie award when he suffered a knee injury in the 10th game, ending his season.

Now let’s see how the scouting execs fare this year.

In the past month, 18 personnel people were asked to name the three best players, in order, in this year’s draft. A first-place vote was worth three points, a second-place vote was worth two points and a third-place vote was worth one.

Here were the point totals:

Best player in the draft

1. Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida: 36 points (6 firsts)

2. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson: 34 points (9 firsts)

3. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU: 18 points (2 firsts)

4. Penei Sewell, T, Oregon: 7 points

5. Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama: 4 points

6.(tie) Najee Harris, RB, Alabama (one first); Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State; Zach Wilson, QB, BYU: 3 points

As you can see, Lawrence had nine first-place votes to Pitts’ six, but Pitts nosed him out in total points.

“Love him,” one evaluator said of Pitts. “He’s the most talented player in the draft. He’s the most gifted tight end I’ve scouted. He is a legitimate, legitimate threat.”

Regarding Lawrence, another scout said: “He’s as close to a sure thing as you can have. He’s got every physical trait. He’s been the No. 1 quarterback at whatever level his whole life. If they craft an offense around him, there’s no reason to think he’s not going to be able to do it in the NFL.”

The 18 scouts were then asked two additional questions …

Favorite player to scout in the draft (pick one)

1. Pitts: 5½ votes

2.(tie) Chase; Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss 2 votes each

4. Wilson: 1½ votes

5.(tie) Lawrence; Harris; Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson; Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue; Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame; Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida; Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina: 1 vote each

Best defensive player in the draft (pick one)

1. Surtain II: 9 votes

2. Parsons: 4 votes

3.(tie) Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina; Jaelan Phillips, Edge, Miami: 2 votes each

5.(tie) Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama; Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky: ½ vote each

This guy at Kroger this afternoon already has his Sewell jersey.50E9B190-C1C6-4F53-8F9B-5C3951C38B92.thumb.jpeg.13b623b75db3d27b97012dbb5de983d0.jpeg

Smart guy.  Lets hope the Bengals are too.  Sewell or bust.  However, should that option be gone, Chase or Pitts in that order.

I just can't shake the feeling that if we pass on Sewell, we'll be chasing our tails for years to come.  Trying to fill a premiere spot with a bunch of bandaids, has beens, turtles, etc...  Joe Burrow will not replicate his success in the college ranks on the NFL stage without keeping upright.  I'm not putting forth a guarantee because in life there is not one available.  IF all the prognosticators are correct which is all we have to go off of, then Sewell is the best at his position.  A position that spawns very few great ones each year.  WR's are by comparison to OTs, not as highly valued or regarded in the draft.   Go back and look at the previous decade of drafts.  We may not draft this high again for a while if the Band-Aids hold together for an entire season.  Note, drafting outside of the top 5 could still mean we suck.

In short, we have a sucking chest wound at the OT position.  Lets fix it the right way and not the Bengal way.  Advocating for a WR or TE would be telling me, you think we're worse off at that position and can't fix it in the later rounds.  Unlike the law of averages regarding the amount of premiere OTs in the later rounds.  There just isn't very many high quality, ever.  Or we could ignore the sucking chest wound because it might just go away.

Lastly, whomever stated the real draft starts in the 2nd round is dead on.  We need depth AND several fillers.

So basically if they take Sewell everything is wonderful and there’s no need to worry about the rest of their picks because we’ll have the best o-line prospect in the draft.  But if they don’t take Sewell we’re completely screwed and there’s little chance of anything working out given their recent draft failures.  That’s nonsense and you know it.

Yeah that is pretty nonsensical..  So why did you say it?

2. Have such dominant WRs / TEs that teams cannot blitz you to begin with, or else they will get burned.

Burrow was hit 75 times, I seriously doubt they were all off blitzes.

If they take Sewell i believe an edge rusher will be on their mind in round 2...Annarumo wants one badly and who can blame him..

Peyton Turner seems logical...

If they go receiver they could take Dynami Brown or Bateman if hes there..

Don't forget WR Simi Fehoko later on...

I like Mike Strachan or Josh Imatorbhebhe later in the draft or as UFAs as well.

.Yeah, I love how some on the Sewell Train are against Slater because they're against "drafting a guard" at 5, yet are finding it fine to draft Sewell and put him at RG.

They know something.  It's Sewell

Never mind.  OL, EDGE OL next three picks.  Start negotiating with Trai Turner tonight.

02 Alex Leatherwood or Tevin Jenkins

03 Payton Turner

04 Trey Smith or Kendrick Green

would work.
