The Dehner Article on Michael Jordan

Great he feels bad about it, even better he went out and decided to be a professional on his own this offseason and put in the work to change his body, self motivation is the best kind of motivation. It's a damned shame it took Burrow getting hurt for him to have it between his 2nd and 3rd year because he could have done that between his rookie and 2nd year too.

He was 20 years old when he was drafted and 21 heading into his 2nd season, not surprised he didn't have all the details of being a pro athlete mastered. The point is it's obvious that Jordan was setup for failure and should have never been put in this position.

As stated earlier, last offseason was unprecedented so when you combine all the factors are you really surprised Burrow got hurt.

Because of a pass happy but utterly clueless head coach and front office that allowed an average oline to go to shit through bad personnel decisions it's no surprise Burrow got hurt.

It could have Jonah or Hopkins that gave up the pressure that lead to the injury, the overall scheme and techniques that were being employed is what caused the injury.

It was obvious that Jordan was overwhelmed and out skilled a lot last year, especially in that game. Keeping him in the game and continuing to ask him to pass block is not the best strategy.

Fast forward to this year and the Bengals have drafted a player in the second round to replace Jordan. You know damn well the kid will start whether he is the best player or not.  That’s how the Bengals have rolled with top picks for years on offense.

Bad coaches and front office aside, Jordan wasn’t physically ready to play in the NFL.  That is on him. The fact that he was playing anyway is on the Bengals.

The fans don't decide shit because we're clueless...who cares how comfortable some schmuck feels, if Jordan is one best players he will make the team.

When fans blame Jordan for Burrow getting hurt they show how clueless they are, the real blame lies on the front office and coaching staff.

Jordan wasn't given the coaching he needed to compete because Taylor fired Pollack to hire his father-in-law's screw up buddy only to fire him and rehire Pollack after the franchise QB gets hurt behind an awful offensive line, nothing screams incompetence more rehiring someone you fired and 6 wins in 2 seasons.

Also,  the coaching staff called too many pass plays which increased the chances of injury.

While no one could have foreseen a severe injury, Bengals fans have worried about Burrow’s health thanks to a combination of poor offensive line play and one of the most pass-heavy offenses in football. Despite being a rookie, Burrow dropped back more than any other quarterback in the NFL, averaging an absurd 41.1 pass attempts per game, the most in the league. He was on pace to set the record for pass attempts by a rookie by more than 30 attempts (currently held by former Colts QB Andrew Luck). Yet he was getting sacked on 8.0 percent of his dropbacks, the seventh-highest number in the league. Coming into Week 11, Pro Football Focus graded the Bengals 26th in pass blocking, and ESPN ranked them 28th in pass-block win rate. Per ESPN, the Bengals have been able to hold off opposing pass rushers for at least 2.5 seconds (what they call a “win” as a pass-blocking unit) on just 50 percent of the team’s snaps. Coming into the game, Burrow had taken 72 hits—a historically high number:

WFT has the best d line in the NFL and Jordan was getting pushed around all game, a competent coaching staff would call less pass plays to protect the franchise from injury or put in someone else.

Which leads to the front office that did a horrible job of putting enough quality players on the field.  Jordan was a day 3 pick that had Jim Turner has his position coach since he came into the NFL...not exactly the ideal situation for success against the best of the best.

Jordan knows he needs to improve,  he feels like shit for what happened to JB, and he's doing everything he can to ensure this never happens again. Placing all of the blame for Burrow's injury solely on him is ridiculous and ignorant.

Taylor didn't fire Pollack, he wasn't even the coach when Pollack left.

That is semantics, Taylor was annouced as HC on 01/20/19 and Pollack left on th 01/15/19. I'm positive Taylor had communicated what coaches he wanted to keep and which ones he wanted to replace when he was hired as the head coach.

Taylor wanted his own guys at certain positions and Pollack saw the writing on the wall so he quit before he was fired.

Paul Dehner's tweet that is embedded in article confirms as much.

It's no coincedence that Pollack left after seeing his fellow coaches get fired and knowing that Taylor wanted to hire Turner for OL coach.

My guess is that we've got a bunch of Fat Ass beer bellied bitches talking shit about a 20 something young Kid that has already exceeded anything any of these folks have ever accomplished.

Who gives a shit what he has accomplished.  Can he play offensive line at the NFL level?  If not he can take all his trophies and awards and hit the road.

Hoping another year of experience makes him a valuable asset.

Jordan so far anyway has turned things around. He's been the highest ranked player on the line.

We'll see.  Even some of the Bengals related sites say he still needs to be more consistent.

At the end of last year I wanted him cut, hell at the start of OTAs, but now I think he makes the team, and not because we have no depth.

Only time will tell.  The one guy they brought in to replace him, Carman, has not gotten it done so far.
