As a Bengal fan, the best thing that can happen to the Stealers is for them to miss out on the playoffs but not crash and burn and get a great draft pick

Im  of the belief that the 2022 class on QBs is very weak..

Hell i saw Spencer Rattler on some sites as the top QB and Okla benched him for poor play..

Im thinking the Pervs will sign a vet FA at that position and go with beefing up their Oline once again..

C TED KARRAS, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Hypothetical Trade: Ted Karras  Cincinnati Bengals for a 2022 seventh-round pick

Dead money: $1,000,000
Cap savings: $833,333
Contract with acquiring team: One year, $833,333

Bill Belichick maintained a dynasty for two decades largely on the understanding that it’s better to be early than late on a personnel move. The New England Patriots made the tough decision to move on from 2019 Defensive Player of the Year cornerback Stephon Gilmoreafter the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on an extension, and here they continue to make small moves to prepare for another important offseason in 2022.

Karras ending up in New England this season after a stint with the Miami Dolphins was a strange circumstance, with New England Patriots incumbent starting center David Andrewsalso being a free agent. The belief in league circles was that one of Andrews or Karras would sign with the Miami Dolphins and Brian Flores. Instead, both landed in New England.

Although it comes on a small sample size, Karras has the eighth-best pass-blocking grade among interior offensive linemen through Week 5 — an 81.3 grade on 57 pass-blocking snaps — after splitting time at left and right guard.

Frankly, Karras is too good to not be starting somewhere. The Bengals robbed the New York Giants blind in trading away 2018 first-round pick center Billy Price, but starter Trey Hopkinstore his ACL in Week 17 of 2020 and may need some more time to get back to 100%. Hopkins has a 31.9 pass-blocking grade through Week 5 in 2021, over thirty points lower than any season in his career since 2016.

The downside is minimal if anything, as Karras can also serve as a quality reserve interior offensive lineman. Cincinnati acquired a conditional seventh-round pick from the Giants in the Price trade, so the team could end up with interior defensive lineman B.J. Hill and interior offensive lineman Ted Karras for a swap of seventh-rounders. If the Bengals want to keep quarterback Joe Burrow upright and healthy and make a serious playoff push, beefing up their interior could be the key.

Doubt seriously if it would happen but food for speculation.

I know Charlie don't surf, Mama don't allow no gittar playin' here, and the Bengals Don't Trade BUT...

We're still shaky at Center.  Hopkins coming off injury and Hill not ready to step up to the plate yet.

A cheap Rent-A-Center/ Interior Olineman would be nice.

The blatant robbery trading Billy Price to the Gnats could be a BJ and serviceable Center.

Sounds like a weiner.

It's possible that 3 stud veteran QBs will be available this offseason: Russell Wilson, DeShaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers. I hope none of them end up in our division

My family doesn't talk me into thinking anything. My son wishes the Browns had Burrow. Hubby isn't really sold on Mayfield either.

Can't blame 'em.  Browns are in a tough spot with Mayfield.  He isn't good enough for a big contract, but if you let him walk you could end up with something much, much worse.

Again, hate to see it.  :ninja:

Any relation to Webster's Dad?

I just thought of Nate Webster.  Good times.

Just announced - Case Keenam starting tomorrow for Clowns.

he isn't the biggest loss.. Case is probably just about as good as Baker

missing their o-lineman, RB's and defense is worse.

But I am glad they are hurting

“Allen and Jackson are still battling the issues that have dogged them since they entered the league in the games that matter the most. Mayfield, meanwhile, is flashing elite level quarterback play, turning in some of his best games in the most difficult of circumstances.”

Browns' Baker Mayfield expected to undergo offseason surgery following 2021 season, per report

No one can question the toughness of Baker Mayfield. The former first-overall pick continues to battle through a shoulder injury that's made it difficult to be as productive as he'd like to be for the Cleveland Browns, but he refuses to concede to the pain. That said, due to a short week following their Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday and their upcoming matchup with the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, it'll be backup quarterback Case Keenum getting the start in Week 7. Mayfield will have a shot to return to the field in 10 days -- looking to wait until the season is over before he gets his shoulder repaired.

The 26-year-old is reportedly expected to undergo offseason surgery once the 2021 season concludes, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, to fix the torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. Mayfield and the Browns believe he can make it to that point with the proper management, but any setbacks could alter that decision.

Despite his injury, Mayfield is currently enjoying the highest completion percentage of his four-year NFL career (67.1%) and a career-high passer rating as well (97.8). This is without having the luxury of both Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry on the field at the same time for any large stretch of time this season, and it's a testament to Mayfield's talent and evolving decision-making process once he takes the snap.

That said, while he has only three interceptions through six games, the Browns are 3-3 heading into Week 7 and Mayfield has only six passing touchdowns -- clearly hampered by his injury. He's one of the next young NFL quarterbacks to potentially break the bank in the next few months, and Mayfield is doing his best to show the Browns he's the QB of the future in Cleveland.
