I do consulting work, and recently got contracted by Facebook to do a series of training sessions for GraphQL. Lo and behold - they f***ing GAVE me an Oculus 2. Believe the hype. It's amazing how a little stereoscopic vision and some spatial audio will help you brain lie to you. You can see videos... But until you've tried to lay down your paddle on a ping pong table that isn't there the SECOND time that you really appreciate how good the illusion is. Plus it gets you up and moving. I burned 200 calories last night playing a puzzle game. (I expect you to Die 2) I would buy the $300 headset just for Beat Saber. It also hooks to your PC in "Rift" mode for Steam Gaming. Dirt Rally in VR is crazy. Elite Dangerous is breath taking. That's not your thing? 360 videos from all over the world. Be a virtual tourist in Google Earth. VR Chat for everything from concerts to freaky furry sex. And porn is... Woo. Paint on a virtual canvas, draw in midair. Model and sculpt for a 3D Printer. Virtual theaters in BigScreen. With the base model being $300 - get chu one. If you got one, I'm lidjungle. Anyone for a playoff watch party in BigScreen? I got a Rift S a year ago for Christmas (which I understand is now discontinued? I don't really understand what all that means). It really does jack with your brain - my son and I both found some of the games / experiences make us dizzy / nauseous, which was a bummer. Richie's Plank Experience was interesting - it didn't hold my interest for long, but when I tried it, was very intense. Thrill of the Fight is fun, and a pretty good workout. If I can still lift my arms after a fight, I enjoy punching the referee in the face and in the jimmy while he announces the winner.
Jamie_B Posted January 4, 2022 Report Posted January 4, 2022 Shit scares me TBH. I worry that we'll all end up like the people in Ready Player 1 where nobody does real life anymore. Just had Facebook reach out to me on LinkedIn to come build the metaverse for them. I just started at Microsoft yesterday so I had to pass.

-GoBengals- Posted January 13, 2022 Report Posted January 13, 2022 i see there is a memory capacity difference, 128GB or 256GB versions, what would be the reason for needing the extra space?

Y'all can correct me if I'm wrong - but these aren't like the Rift, where it taps your computer's library, so the actual headset contains the programs in itself - so I assume it so you can fit more games / programs.

Take a half of a Dramamine (original formula) and wait about 20mins. You should be good. Plus it's only a half of one so you might not get drowsy. I play the bar fight game, and Gorn Arena or whatever.. I love them.
