MichaelWeston
Ben Brown-Ole Miss 6-5 312 24 30 starts at RG and 10 at C....this is exactly what I wanted but for LG.....I still missed this guy. Wonder what his RAS was? Injury concern but high reward low risk. Like getting another 5th round pick The Athletic Writeup 7. BEN BROWN | Ole Miss 6051 | 312 lbs. | rSR. Vicksburg, Miss. (St. Aloysius) 5/19/1998 (age 23.94) #55 BACKGROUND: Timothy Benjamin “Ben” Brown grew up in Vicksburg and started playing pee-wee football at age 6. He attended St. Aloysius High, where he was a multi-sport standout and started on the offensive line from the first game of his freshman season. After receiving All-County and All-Region honors as a junior, Brown played both ways as a senior left tackle and defensive tackle, finishing with 37 tackles and 1.0 sack. On offense, he was named First Team All-State as he led an unit that ran for 2,596 yards and averaged 7.2 yards per carry. He also lettered in basketball, track (27’6.5 shot put) and powerlifting (placed fourth in the state in 2014). A three-star recruit out of high school, Brown was the No. 81 offensive tackle in the 2017 recruiting class and the No. 17 recruit in the state of Mississippi. He received interest from other SEC programs, but he grew up dreaming of playing for Ole Miss and committed almost immediately after he was offered. Brown became the seventh member of his family to sign with the Rebels, including his father (Tim), who played on the offensive line (1988-89), and both of his grandfathers. His paternal grandfather (Allen) was a First Team All-American (1964) and won two Super Bowls as a tight end with the Green Bay Packers (1966, 1967). His maternal grandfather (Bobby Robinson), uncle (Burkes), great uncle (Jerry) and his father’s cousin (Alton) also suited up for the Rebels. Ben proposed to his fiancée (Juliana Adams) in February 2021. He graduated cum laude with his degree in exercise science (December 2020) and is pursuing his master’s in health promotion. [146] WEAKNESSES: Gets himself in trouble when he overextends and bends at the waist … will struggle to last on an island to his average athletic traits … moving targets will give him trouble … needs to improve his lower body flexibility to quickly recover and re-leverage his base … he would benefit from better consistency with his punch timing and placement … has stiff knees as a run blocker and must improve his control and technique in his fits … his pads will rise as the play progresses … medicals need to be checked out after he missed the final seven games and most of the pre-draft process because of a torn distal biceps tendon that required surgery (October 2021). SUMMARY: A four-year starter at Ole Miss, Brown was the starting right guard in head coach Lane Kiffin’s zone-based scheme. A high school left tackle, he moved between guard and center during his time with the Rebels, starting 40 consecutive games before his biceps injury as a senior. Brown has vise grips for hands, and he works hard to stay connected both in pass protection and in the run game. However, his lower body will be late reacting to twitchy defensive linemen, leaving him off-balance in his attempts to recover. Overall, Brown isn’t a top-tier athlete and must play with better technical consistency, but he has the play strength and position flexibility to secure a backup role on the interior in the NFL.
