'It Is Us' ~ NFL Films new movie about the 2021 Bengals ♥

Recommended Posts

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that this is the best film ever made about the Bengals

A few moments that stuck out ...

- When Burrow tells Higgins after beating the Ravens the first time "If we can win the division, we can win it all" #Foreshadowing

- How clutch McPherson was all year (best kicker in football)

- Hearing the distinctive NFL films voice say "Joe Shiesty" (legendary)

- When Burrow yells "You can't fucking zero me! The fuck are you talking about!" When the Jags blitz him and he throws the game winning pass.

- When Mike Hilton predicts his Int of Tannehill and then goes and does it.

- The BDE of Burrow when he says "When we score we're going for two" And Chase retorts "Ah yeah. I like that shit".

- When Bates tells Clay Johnston "We're going to remember this forever bro" in Kansas City.

- The noise of Chase crying as the kick goes in to make the Super Bowl

- When Chase says "Damn, year one!" to Burrow, acknowledging that they are just getting started.

Was really noticing how many times Uzomah's name was mentioned

His departure is still kind of of puzzling, as the Bengals offered him the same amount of $. If it really was just because of chasing tail (and not also wanting to set up a post-playing broadcast career in NYC) then that's really sad.

If about a tv career, I also think it's a miscalculation. As the Bengals lead the league probably in ex-player broadcasters (Boomer, Collinsworth, Hawkins, Pollack, Wilcotts etc). And as a multi-SB champ with Burrow, he would have been even more marketable, than flopping with the Jets.

cmon man. To even pretend there are better options post career media in Cincinnati than New York is laughable. We are talking jobs that pay well and matter. You think lapham and munoz are getting fat pay for their game coverage?

wonder why collinsworth left Cincinnati career wise!?!?!?!?! Such a vast money rich part of the country with endless sports opportunities!!!

New York has twice as many teams even if stuck local. Is literally the media hub for the entire nfl. Where nearly every nfl show is produced. And every network has an nfl show based in New York. Endless radio shows on sports.

laughable comparison.

New York media opportunities is joe burrow and Cincinnati media opportunities is David klingler.

the springboard of New York football players in the media world is insane.

name one bengals player in the last 25 years of playing in the media somewhere?

dhani Jones?!?! Hell he came from New York and then Philly first.

even older guys like boomer. Also went to New York.

collinsworth is the only national media guy who strictly was a bengals player.

It's a shame this shirt had a wrinkle in it ... Would have loved to see "Joe Fucking Burrow" in the NFL Films archive.

Under this rationale Daniel Jones should be getting talked about more nationally than Joe Burrow, but he's not. Because the media and public at large are drawn to winners.

Winning makes a market. Prior to Brady, the Patriots were a laughingstock, and he instantly made the other players around him national names and stars. You can say the same for Mahomes. Kansas City, Missouri is known for BBQ, tornadoes, cow tipping, and teenage pregnancy -- but Mahomes has made his WRs and TEs all nationally known. Burrow will do the same and all those players in his proximity will benefit in kind.

There were no Bengal teams even winning a playoff game for the last 31 years, so no national figures who won to jump onto the scene. But notice Boomer and Collinsworth come from the last SB Bengals team. However, I would argue that Chad Johnson made a good cultural name for himself despite his geography in Cincy.

that is not the same rational what so ever. im talking about medium talent players wanting to get into media and youre talking about super star players who already have the spotlight. you cant possibly think that a player of CJ's caliber and a player on Burrows caliber have even remotely the same path to media work, right?
