Free Agents after next year. Possible replacements

Allen 23 -Browning or re-sign
Perine 23 -Evans or re-sign
Thomas 23 -Lassiter or Irwin more likely a draft pick to replace Higgins after he leaves
Hurst 23 -I expect him back, he will fit perfectly with this team
Sample 23 -I expect him back after he has a weak market
Scharping 23 -Who knows, but maybe Carman developing could work
Huber 23 -Chrisman
Harris 23 -Adomitis
Pratt 23 -Probably re-signed but maybe ADG
Bell 23 -With Bates leaving he could be back on the cheap
Bates 23 -Dax Hill
Thomas 23 -He will probably be here until he wants to retire
Wilson 23 -I think he is probably cut once healthy
Apple 23 -CTB
Flowers 23 -Re-signed or Draft pick

I hate the idea. But I think it's what happens. They will save up to pay for Burrow and then pay for Chase. I don't think they can pay all 3. Higgins may even leave next year. That's how things seem to play out for a bunch of people in the league this past offseason. Now Mike Brown did say they needed to pay a QB and receivers....with the plural. So who knows. He does have Bates agent

I hate the thought of losing Tee, but it's a realistic possibility.  I wonder if we can extend Boyd for a few more years and lower his cap hit some.  As much as I love Mixon and his energy, I'd be willing to shop him next year for a mid round pick -- I don't think it's smart to spend a bunch on the RB room.  Doing both of those things may open up enough room for Burrow, Chase and Tee, but that's going to be a lot of cap space dedicated to three players.  We better hit on the majority of our draft picks for the next few years for that strategy to work.

Anyone know what Brandon Allen's status is regarding re-signing?  Hoping we never need the backup other than to clean up at the end of a blowout, but it worries me that the only backup QB we have right now "officially" on the roster is on the PS and could be grabbed up any day?

The only reason the move with Allen was made is because of league longevity he cannot be claimed on waivers. He had a gentleman's agreement with the Bengals to return once the roster moves were completed.

A given that Prince is nothing outstanding, but are they now just a tad thin at OT depth?

Definately thin...

Theyll use Adenijji at either tackle spots

and guard spots if needed..

Doubt theres any vet tackle theyd sign

unless Daryl Williams or Eric Fisher want to sign a 1yr flyer..

I think Burrow, Chase, and Tee are kept at all costs on order of Mike Brown and anyone that needs to be cut to make it happen will. Nobody else is really safe other than those 3.

Agree totally..

Tee Higgins should stay a Bengal for years to come.

God forbid any injuries occur to Chase but having another one guy is a blessing.in case..

At the moment the roster doesn't show George on the PS. Did he get claimed?

I'm glad the league has expanded the practice squads and improved the flexibility to bring players back from IR. Teams have 53 man active roster at any given moment but with all the rotation and musical chairs allowed, they can basically keep up to another 24 players. That will help with the 17 game schedule.

The NFL should really just do away with the practice squad and allow a 65 man game day roster imo. 53 is too low with today's injuries.

Or maybe make the Inactive List an Emergency List.

Five players ineligible to play in a game unless two players

go down and out during the course of a game.

Two Active out, one Emergency up and the

Active players cannot reenter that game.

Both of these takes are great. It does seem like an arbitrary rule.

The player not being able to re-enter makes tons of sense.
