This "fixed game" stuff just feels like what fans tell themselves to feel better if they lose.

Again: no games are “fixed”. That is illegal. The NFL doesn’t need to be directly involved in game outcomes.

They have already created an unworkable avalanche of unenforceable rules which favor a certain dynamic. I have laid this out previously, so no no need to go further.

Can the Bengals survive in this environment? Certainly—and they have. It will take an extraordinary series of events in order to overcome it however.

Sound like a Lemony Snickets sequel.

But if they really wanted this "test balloon" then again why not have every single possible match up be at a neutral site?

Bills vs Chiefs - Neutral Site

Bills vs Jags - Neutral Site

Bengals vs Chiefs - Neutral Site

Bengals vs Jags - Neutral Site

There is potential that this "test balloon" might not even get to happen.  Which is why all this sounds like conspiracy theory.

They could have—they should have—but they did not. Actually no element of a “neutral site” is analogous with reason anyway. They created this Frankenstein. But, if it makes money, they definitely will expand it.

I do tire of “conspiracy theories”. I simply want to get to the bottom of what this rubbish is all about. If the NFL wants to experiment/change/steer the fullness of an entire postseason…they can—it’s their business. Just don’t bullshit their customers about “fairness “ and “equity”. Be transparent.  If they create rules about penalties for the wrong style of shoelaces…I don’t care.

I can certainly change my way of thinking—and really already have—about how to approach viewing/participating in the “NFL Experience”. I take it for what it is: pure entertainment. But I do not appreciate the insult to my attendance by being constantly lied to…and paying for that privilege.

But if they had done all the potential outcomes at a neutral site, the "test balloon" theory would have at least held up against scrutiny.  This Frankenstein's monster doesn't.

Look, I would not expect you/me/anyone else to have sufficient facts to formulate firm conclusion. I call a “test balloon” as a speculation, based on wholly peripheral information.

It is just as much of a theory, that the league hasn’t considered it. You do not know either.

And this end-of-season/back room decision madness is a Frankenstein monster. It has, and will, change the dynamic of League interference even further.

I will be hoping against hope that the Bengals do win Sunday—it would be a nice bee in the NFL’s bonnet. I could not ask for more.

(By the way…I’m signed up to attend the AFC Championship Game at Paycor against Jacksonville…section 341. 😀

And, naturally, from MafiaLand

Hamlin lifts spirits at One Bills Drive

Head coach Sean McDermott told media ahead of Wednesday's walk-thru that safety Damar Hamlin is back at One Bills Drive starting "almost daily" as he begins getting acclimated again and back into a routine. Seeing No. 3 smile and being able to converse with him has helped ease some lingering emotions for his teammates.

"Guys being able to see him, talk with him, I think that kind of alleviates most of that," QB Josh Allen said." Not saying that there's going to be none (emotions). I can't speak for everybody on the team. But again, I think we're pretty focused right now on just having a good week of preparation and trying to go out there on Sunday and execute."

I may swing by Hard Rock Casino on the way home tonight and see

if I can place a bet on Hamlin showing on the sidelines or being introduced

prominently to the screaming throngs before the game.

This game has been a brain worm all week, kind of a pall cast over everything else I was

doing including work.

For me, it has come down to this:

I think the Bengals can win the game and rather handily.

I think the Bengals should win the game probably wire to wire; score first and don't look back.

We were red hot and on a roll in the bullshit cancelled game.

BUT... I don't think we will.  The Powers That Be have so ordained.

Fuck it.  Let's go collect from the Unpaid Bills.  They more than OWE us.

“Even if the Bengals don't advance after Sunday, Bengals fans have another reason to breathe easy: this past season has proven Joe Burrow and co. are the real deal.”

Sounds nice. And mostly true.

Wearing my SB cap from a year ago. I actually had some one ask me “they were in the SB last year”? I literally laughed out loud. Poor fellow must have thought I was nuts.

Lose and they are forgotten—other than here. They were forgotten after last February. For that matter, so have the Rams.

BUF will be forgotten once they would play KC. KC will be forgotten even if they win the SB.

The microcosm of the moment drives the passion. The old coach’s quip from years ago that people in China have no idea what took place here today (paraphrase) is apropos.

We care….we’ll remember…but no one else will regardless of what happens.
