Zac Taylor talked a little at his noon presser today about the new practice squad rules so I looked 'em up. Essentially teams can use 2 PS guys each week and only pay them a fraction of the minimum NFL salary

One of the main points of a practice squad is having a set of players you can call upon when you need them to fill in on their active roster. The NFL’s current CBA allows for up to two players in a given game week to be promoted to the active roster without giving the players a normal player contract. Normally, a player must be removed from the 53-man roster to make room for a practice squad promotion. Then, if the promoted player is sent back down to the practice squad, he has to clear waivers. That is not the case with these two players. Also, a single player can be activated from the practice squad thrice a season. If a team wants to activate that same player a fourth time, they must be added to the active roster.

It's a good deal for the teams but I'm surprised the players assoc went for it

I see Grier is already walking around with Burrow. The team might want to bump him onto the 53 soon if they plan on grooming him, before some suck ass squad steals him following an injury.

We can protect up to 4 players from being swiped. I have to believe a QB they're grooming would be one of those guys

^ That's actually an amazing deal for the teams. It basically gives you a 69 man roster (niceee), for the price of 53.

Like you, I'm surprised the players union allowed it.

Great! (didn't know that). Are those 4 openly declared? Can they shift weekly or just be set once?

It states that teams can designate up to 4 players each week . I take that to mean that it can change from week to week

I wonder if the fans can find out who the 4 are? Certainly other teams must know, so they can decide who to pursue or not.

Good point. If you find this out, let us all know

The players who get called up from the practice squad for games do get the NFL minimum pay for those weeks. Then they go back to the lower PS rate for the weeks they aren't called up.

Speaking of mistakes, if that is supposed to be a mirror, should the graphic on the shirt be reversed?

Asking for a friend.
