That stupid picture of the buses under water was taken after the Hurricane - Thus they are underwater.... Also from Sat on the Fed Govt was in charge of the area not the Local Govt.... When Bush declared it a Fed Emergency he took control (although only in name since he was still on vacation) ........ And they keep showing the Buses but where was the Mayor (if he even was in charge) supposed to do with the thousands of people..... drive them out of the city and drop them off in a field somewhere..... these people didn't have money for Hotels.... they didn't have food, hell they didn't even get food from the fed govt till Friday .... with all the resources the Feds have,, Was a Mayor with a tiny budget in comparison supposed to make hundreds of drivers appear for the Buses then drive them out and drop them off in towns... hell most of the towns now that border NO are full as it is and can't take any more people.... Only the Fed Govt and FEMA - That is what the fuck they are for - Has the capability to amass thousands of people and the $$ to drop billions in needed aid and supplies.... where were the supplies or people that would have shown up if the levees had been sabptaged by a terrorist.... Would Bush stay on Vacation then ????

Please tell me that you don`t believe your own bullshit...

In case you aren’t familiar with how our government is SUPPOSED
to work:
The chain of responsiblity for the protection of the citizens in
New Orleans is:

1. The Mayor
2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security
(a political appointee of the Governor who reports to the Governor)
3. The Governor
4. The Head of Homeland Security
5. The President

What did each do?

1. The mayor, with 5 days advance, waited until 2 days before
he announced a mandatory evacuation (at the behest of the President).
The he failed to provide transportation for those without transport even
though he had hundreds of buses at his disposal.

2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security failed to have any
plan for a contingency that has been talked about for 50 years. Then
he blames the Feds for not doing what he should have done.
(So much for political appointees)

3. The Governor, despite a declaration of disaster by the President
2 DAYS BEFORE the storm hit, failed to take advantage of the offer
of Federal troops and aid. Until 2 DAYS AFTER the storm hit.

4. The Director of Homeland Security positioned assets in the area
to be ready when the Governor called for them

5. The President urged a mandatory evacuation, and even declared
a disaster State of Emergency, freeing up millions of dollars of
federal assistance, should the Governor decide to use it.

Oh and by the way, the levees that broke were the responsibility
of the local landowners and the local levee board to maintain,
NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

The disaster in New Orleans is what you get after decades of corrupt
government going all the way back to Huey Long.

Funds for disaster protection and relief have been flowing into this
city for decades, and where has it gone, but into the pockets of the
politicians and their friends.

Decades of socialist government in New Orleans has sapped all self
reliance from the community, and made them dependent upon
government for every little thing.

Political correctness and a lack of will to fight crime have created
the single most corrupt police force in the country, and has permitted
gang violence to flourish....not to mention the cowards that left their
posts...and the trash that shot at rescue workers...
"I don't know whether it's the governor's problem, or it's the president's problem, but somebody needs to get ... on a plane and sit down, the two of them, and figure this out right now," Nagin said. (of course none of it was HIS fault)

Nagin called for a moratorium on press conferences "until the resources are in this city." (He says at a Press Conference)

"I need reinforcements," he pleaded. "I need troops, man. I need 500 buses, man. This is a national disaster."

Nagin said, "Get every Greyhound bus in the country and get them moving."
Mayor Ray Nagin September 2nd.

Funny how he mentioned buses...

255 buses in that ONE lot.

Canal Street... less than a mile from the Superdome.

13 buses in that lot.

Go to page 13, read paragraph 5. It states:

5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.

Over 300 buses...66 people per bus...He could have evacuated AT LEAST
19,800 people in ONE TRIP. And it`s what HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.
