We surmise he can't coach up but maybe he has with limited talent. Hopefully the entire Oline under his tutelege will light some fire under Zeus and Brown where they put out entire experience and effort into their game this season. Amarius Mims is his project to exceed st OT. This Oline could be as good as the Browns unit a couple yrs ago. That's the goal. 1 Quote

The "clay" he has to work with is the best he's ever been assigned to. There is probably less than 10 people on planet earth with Mims size, athleticism, arm length, and body composition. So it's now or never. 1 Quote

If he can only produce a good O-line if given stars, he's in the wrong business. The Bengals can't seem to draft O-linemen well (Thanks Duke) but have signed good veterans from other teams. They all seem to get worse on the Bengals than their prior teams. 1 Quote
Griever Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 The only thing you can somewhat give him credit for is instilling discipline, granted this is from an entire offense standpoint 1 1 Quote

Offensive holding penalties last season: JWilliams - 3 OBrown 2 Cappa 2 Volson 1 Karras 0 Not sure who the other holding penalty was called against. 2 Quote

I'd also rather they hold than give someone a free shot at the QB. 10 yards here or there is nothing compared to another year of Joe on IR. 1 1 Quote
Griever Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 Rookies are scheduled to report on 7/20, just over a week from today...will Mims be signed??? 1 Quote

Mims will sign when his front office and his agent reach an agreement. But if they believe in the player they just drafted and expect him to be a core player for the length of his rookie contract and then hopefully an extension to follow, they won't hold the contract up over offset language or something equally stupid. Show the player and his agent that they believe in Mims. 1 2 Quote

|BlackJesus| Posted July 16 Author Report Posted July 16 Same 5 still unsigned (picks 1, 9, 10, 17, 18). Including the pick before Mims (Turner). Quote

|BlackJesus| Posted July 16 Author Report Posted July 16 I'm in full agreement. Now slot the fucking deal already Duke (hell give a little extra), because you're starting to piss me off! 1 Quote
|High School Harry| Posted July 16 Report Posted July 16 QFA and just sign the paper, Big Boy... it ain't gonna change that much no matter how long you delay doing so. Quote

Actually Caleb Williams is officially his own agent, although he got caught accidently telling the truth to reporters. If a player is acting as his own agent, then teams are only supposed to talk contract with the player. Williams told reporters that he had other people doing it for him while the Bears were telling the NFL that they were only talking contract to Williams himself. Uh oh. The rookies are supposed to report for the Bears tomorrow so maybe Williams and Odonze will sign their contracts in the next day or so. Not sure when the rookies for Minnesota are supposed to report, although their training camp doesn't start until July 27th, 3 days after Cincinnati's TC begins. 1 Quote

He's attended everything, shown to be a team guy. I think the Bengals are likely dicking around with some clause they shouldn't be. But he will be a huge bargain at 4 years like 15 million total. I would even give him more than his slot says, a full 16 million. As it's nothing for what he will bring. 1 Quote
sparky151 Posted July 16 Report Posted July 16 There's a cap for rookie cap numbers. With the other draft picks and rookie free agents already signed, they can only give Mims what is left. The Bengals probably looked at what the cap hit was for last year's pick 18, then increased it by the same amount as the overall cap went up. If Mims isn't satisfied with that, there isn't much the team can do. On the other hand, if it's about offsets or the dates of payments, the team should get r dun. 1 Quote

The Bengals rookies report to camp on Saturday the 20th, the Vikings on Sunday. I wouldn't expect for Mims or the 2 first round Vikings rooks to sign before the weekend...if then. 1 Quote
