But--although Rudi was a horse--there are still a few other RB's waiting their turn for the Ring.And if I live to be 100, that date of 12-31-06 will live in my personal infamy. One win..and they are in the playoffs. Everything had fallen in place that day for it to happen. CP puts the Bengals ahead late in the 4th...defense gives up three long plays to allow the Stealers to tie it with an FG. Then, the most maddening series of events I could ever describe (other than what happened against the same team 11 months earlier) occurred. CP hits a laser to get them to the 20--but ML decides not to call the final timeout with 50 seconds left. Then CP throws an incomplete pass with around 20 seconds left--no problem, still time for another throw to get closer (windier than crap that evening). Next play--kneel then call time out!! I knew they needed to get closer as Graham misses right.And...right on cue...third play in for the Stealers, they go 60+ to the house for the game winner (the Bears final TD this year was oddly reminiscent--as every defender seemed to have a shot at Holmes, but never touched him).Thanks for the memories!🤮 Report
