I don't see any NFL team keeping 5 TE's, that like keeping 2 punters. One may go to IR and another to the PS.

McLachlan played well against backups, but he's not making the 53 being so far down on the depth chart. He will be a late cut and stashed on PS.

They don't need Hudson. That's an easy cut at TE

It really is great. That's not the kind of reaction you get when your teammates think you have real character problems.

Both rookie TEs have been cleared and would new a new injury to go on to IR. The Bengals removed All's PUP status as soon as he was medically cleared. His tools have already impressed the coaches, according to Geoff Hobson:

All played only two snaps, but The Bengals are getting ready to take the wraps off the fourth-rounder this week. They've been careful as they bring him back from ACL surgery, but they've been impressed in his limited practices. The coaches love his approach to blocking, how well he runs and how physical is when catches the ball.

Hudson hasn't done anything to deserve being cut. He played well last year and has Burrow's trust.

I agree here but McLaughlan has great hands and is a good route runner i hope we keep him keep him if he gets sent to the practice squad he'll get scooped up by someone else

He may get claimed but teams generally prefer to move guys who have been in camp with them and know their system and coaches rather than claim some guy who they've only seen on film. That's particularly true with rookies, whose only experience is in pre-season games vs other team's backups. Vets at least have been seen in games that count. So I'd be more surprised if a team claimed MacLachlan than if he made it through waivers to the Bengals PS. If another team did claim him at final cuts, they'd have to keep him on their 53 for a minimum period.

Ain't gonna lie, I didn't even know we had a guy named Maema Njongmeta on our team.  :)

If there are 4 guys better than him then he deserves to be cut

lol. We don't have 4 better pass catching TEs than Hudson. The argument for keeping All or MacLachlan over Hudson is we invested a draft pick in them (sunk cost fallacy) and that they are under contract for 4 years compared to Hudson's 1 year deal.

Why is McLachlan a better fit than Hudson?

Just asking...

He'd be the 3rd TE on the Titans and Browns and I haven't really looked much beyond that but I assume he will find an easy landing spot.

Hudson isn't going anywhere.

He and Gesicki are receiving TEs.

Sample and All blockers although All my be a duel threat.

Maybe. Hard to draft a guy and put him on the PS, its a risk that you lose him.

I don’t think they risk putting him on the PS. I think they would cut Hudson or even Irwin before they did that

Not sure about that, Irwin has earned his spot and the team always keeps 6 WRs. Hudson has Joe's trust, not sure they would move on from him that quickly.
