Well...at least he's getting individual work in I suppose

I would hope it's clear to Katie and Mike by now that Ja'Marr will not be suiting up in any fashion until he's extended.

Ja'Marr sat out an entire year at LSU when he lost Burrow and still went #5 in the NFL draft, so they shouldn't test his resolve

But I'm glad he's forcing their hand as he will only get more expensive the longer they wait. Just do it now while he's at 35 per year before next off season he costs 40.

Odd thought.

What if Katy and JaMarr (along with his agent) agreed to a contract but waited until now so he wouldn't be involved in anything where he could be injured until game 1?

Crazy yeah...

The offense needs Ja'Marr...

^ You don't remove a top 3 WR in the NFL and not feel the huge loss. It's crazy to think the Bengals can get to New Orleans without Ja'Marr. Which is why they need to extend him asap.

Sounds like Dax Hill might be the most improved player on the roster since the beginning of training camp. Charlie Goldsmith and Paul Dehner have both been raving about his recent play. Here is Paul Dehner in The Athletic on Hill:

CINCINNATI -- Twice in 11-on-11, high-red zone drives Joe Burrow found himself needing a play to keep the drive alive for the first-team offense. Twice he targeted Dax Hill.

Both times, the converted safety sent the franchise quarterback away disappointed.

The first play came on third-and-4 with Burrow looking for Trenton Irwin one-on-one down the sideline against Hill. The ball came in off target, but Hill perfectly pinned Irwin against the boundary step for step leaving minimal window for a completion. It forced an Evan McPherson field goal.

On the next drive for Burrow, he faced a fourth-and-inches. As he dropped back and faded in the pocket to buy time he tried to lead Charlie Jones on a long drag route across the field. Hill quickly closed the gap, undercut it, batted the ball out of bounds and sent the defense into celebration mode.

Monday served as the latest evidence Hill deserves to win the outside corner spot over DJ Turner.

“I feel like everything just kind of slows down since I’ve been out there,” Hill said. “I’m composed, my technique slows down, I’m able to play faster.”

Hill has been solely running with the first team ever since his impressive preseason debut against Tampa Bay where he had three pass breakups and a near interception. Despite his first camp at the new position and competition with Turner, Hill has created distance in the competition.

Head coach Zac Taylor didn’t comment on where the battle stands, but a joint practice Tuesday with the Colts provides a unique shot for Hill to shine once more and potentially close the door on the competition.

If he does and executes a position change then ascends to the starting role, it would create one of the more unique success stories for the first-round pick that’s struggled to find a defensive home through his first two years.

The idea he’s favored to take over as starter already might have surprised some around the building, but Hill wouldn’t be among them.

“That’s my standard,” he said. “That’s not even a goal, that’s something I can do. Something I expect of myself. I have high standards for myself. Time will tell, I’m just trying to control what I can right now.”

and if the number next year is actually 50 but he's signed at 35, then what? hold out again? 😒
