If I recall correctly The Ketchup Whisperer was involved in Carman's development at some point pre-draft and he was consulted.  I can't imagine that he gave anything other than rave reviews for one of his guys.  Duped.  Film shouldn't have duped them though.

You may be right but he definitely worked with Willie Anderson before the draft.

Their attempt to develop an OL has been a comedy of errors.  I'm hopeful they've turned it around (PFF's home grading included) but even the FA signings & trades have relied on pure luck.  Still waiting for OBjr to live up to the hype.

Anyway I was hoping they'd turn Ford out to pasture as well in favor of these young guys but he's still hanging on.

Has this guy played any at the Guard position?  Seems a shame to have him sit behind Karras if he's really that talented and seemingly NFL ready.  I know it was only preseason but its refreshing to have good news and hope about young offensive linemen (Mims too of course) for a change.

His Miami bio indicates center only. Looks like any guard experience goes back to high school.

He thought he'd get more opportunities there.  He didn't. Remember, he played most of the second half in the Super Bowl over Mixon. He and Moss are somewhat similar but Perine would get snaps ahead of Williams.

Over Williams at very short yardage plays..

Not a  3 down back that Trayveon can do imo.

0% chance of guard from what i found, Center or nothing.

If Lee was big enough to play guard, he would not have been a late 7th round draft choice. His lack of size and versatility are his biggest flaws. NFL teams usually only have 8 OL active on gameday with the 3 backups usually able to play multiple positions. But if Lee turns out to be the only backup center on the roster, he will have to be an active on Sundays. It doesn't feel like Trey Hill is going to make the 53 man roster as of now.

yes, this, to amke the cut with zero versaitility speaks volumes i think.

For those who argued that Carman's spot on the roster was safe because he was a second round pick and it would be admitting to a big draft mistake

They are clearly admitting Carman was a bad pick...while saving money too,

was someone saying that this year? show me that.. it was trued until this year, a top 2-3 round guy typically gets 3-4 years to make it happen. not sure anyone was living on that at this point. i was a big advocate for JC, due to this shit show his career started with, no preseason and camp eally, then camp injury in new spot, but at this juncture its clear he is lacking something.. can speculate the drive or smarts and care, but none of us know.

Cue the "yea but we wouldn't have paid him anyways" crowd.

...... the dumbass media? cause i heard that about burrow pretty recently...

Interesting that Lassiter got waived before Cole Burgess.

Just makes me wonder if Burgess has a chance to make the practice squad as a developmental WR.

lassiter isnt an nfl player. unless he has some specialty role on teams. he doesnt get any seperation against backups. he is of no one is a real game situation. liked him a lot. but watching him this preseason he did basically nothing against nothing talent. not saying Bugess did anything, could just be we KNOW lassiter aint a guy, lets see if maybe Burgess is... i dunno.

The Carman pick has MB’s fingers all over it. Just like John Ross.

mike brown can barely fucking talk coherently and laments even having the conversation with burrow about playing to open last year, but he is making 2nd round pick decisions i guess.

jesus christ. he wanst even the main decision maker when Whiteworth left, he overrode the devision to offer him pay when he left. so he, front office and whiteworth himself state mike asnt making the calls in 2016, he himself states he overstepped in TALKING to burrow about palying but somehow yall get it in your head that he is making draft decisions in the second round?

based on what?

Hmm...Perine?

meh. we basically ahve 2 third down backs right now. what is perine bringing to the room?

he is a 29 year old rb who has been on 5 teams in 6-7 years who might be a 3.7 mil CAP CASUALTY?!?!? on a bad team with a young QB??!?!?!?

I would expect Perine if he gets cut. PDJ has said it numerous times which makes me think he’s also hearing it.

PDJ has no sources, no one in the team talks to PDJ outside of allowed interviews. he is just a dufus fan who wants perine back like everyone other twitter blogger, Perine has. some key games and plays, but he isnt a talent, why would the broncos ditch him if he was? he makes 3.7 mil. what they gonna do with 3.7 mil extra? Bo Nix cant use a veteran 3rd down back who cam block ?

perine averages 300 all purpose yards and 1.9 all purpose TD's a year over his career.  it may be time to dethrone perine.

Joe Mixon?

:ninja:

this is still funny. people say bengals need to cut Mixon for 3 years straight, they do 3 years later and everyone is like "see, told you"

lol

we have only 3rd down back skillset guys. smaller, pass catching blocking backs.. everyone on the roster except MAYBE williams.  not sure Perine fills a void anymore. aside from being old and mediocre.

he filled the blocking void with mixon here, mixon couldnt block the sun in a basement.

Week One Opponent QB injured ...

Shoulder injuries can linger, the Bengals will probably see Maye in week 1.

The Pats might have the worst skill position players in the NFL, but they play hard so you can't underestimate them.

Brissett or not the Bengals should win this game by at least 14 points.

... Mayo playing his presumed week 1 starter in the last preseason game was a rookie coach mistake

He learned his lesson I would think.
