Travis Jones, Ravens DT not flagged for Joe Burrow hit on 2-point try, gets fined $22,511

Ravens defensive tackle Travis Jones wasn't flagged for his hit on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on the 2-point conversion attempt late in the fourth quarter of Cincinnati's NFL Week 10 Thursday night loss in Baltimore.

But the NFL fined Jones $22,511 for a "blow to the head/neck area" of Burrow on the play.

The league also announced Saturday that it fined Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey $33,766 for two infractions, a late hit on Burrow that wasn't flagged during the third quarter and a fourth-quarter facemask of Bengals receiver Andrei Iosivas that was penalized.

Last Saturday, the league fined Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby$11,255 for unnecessary roughness for a Week 9 hit on Burrow after the play was whistled dead.

Ravens' Marlon Humphrey fined $33,766 for late hit on Bengals' Joe Burrow, facemask

The NFL fined Baltimore Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey $33,766 for two infractions during their Thursday Night Football win in NFL Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals, the league announced Saturday.

Humphrey was fined $22,511 for unnecessary roughness/use of helmet for a late hit on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow that wasn't flagged, and $11,255 for grabbing the facemask of Bengals receiver Andrei Iosivas late in the fourth quarter.

Burrow grimaced as he got up from the tackle by Humphrey during the third quarter. Humphrey wasn't called for a late hit despite taking multiple steps and hitting Burrow after Burrow had released a pass.

Burrow appeared to hurt his hand, but did not miss a play.

In addition, Ravens defensive tackle Travis Jones was fined $22,511 for a "blow to the head/neck area" of Burrow on the Bengals' 2-point conversion attempt late in the fourth quarter. Jones' hit did not draw a flag during the game.

Last Saturday, the league fined Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby$11,255 for unnecessary roughness for a hit on Burrow after the play was whistled dead during the second quarter of the Bengals' Week 9 win at Paycor Stadium.

If I'm the Ravens players, I'd consider those fines a great bargain for a chance to end the Bengals quarterback's season. They're about as much of a deterrent as a half-assed scolding and it makes me furious. Marlon Humphrey averages $19,500,000 a year in salary. That $22,511 is comparable to $69.26 to a guy making $60,000 a year.

Or at the very least win a division game & keep the Stealers in their crosshairs.

These goofs drop $20k on a weekend, NFL fines are a bad joke

Beyond ridiculous that asking the perpetrators of dangerous, illegal, GAME CHANGING infractions to dig change from under the cushions of their couches, is supposed to masquerade as anything resembling compensation to the league and more specifically the Bengal franchise. If ownership and the front office really are the penny pinching, non-concerned bystanders to the actual sport many (including me) have surmised they are, they may gain some satisfaction from this somehow.

My obvious subtext for this the thread was to say we wuz robbed.

Duh

Both Baltimore games and the Kansas City Cheats.

Only consolation is I won a few bucks because the Bengals covered the spread.

Also have to admit this team does not look anywhere near a playoff contending calibre team.

I get it. My point was our franchise just accepts being robbed. They could demand that the players in question are suspended from a game or two, rather than fined. The league is essentially admitting that their actions on the field were so egregious that they warrant a fine. This simply bypasses the real issue for us. These actions may have cost us an NFL game. Would demanding suspensions rather than fines work? Very doubtful. Especially at first. But FFS, we have to start somewhere. We need to stop making it so easy for them to rob us, at least.  Put a spotlight on the issue on the sports talk shows for a minute by raising a stink. Competitively, there's absolutely nothing to lose. Business wise, behind closed doors, maybe there is.
