Bengals’ Week 16 game vs. Browns flexed out of Thursday night

The Cincinnati Bengals no longer have to worry about another short week this season. The NFL has flexed out their Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, December 19 on Amazon Prime Video. They will now play in the 1 p.m. ET window on Sunday, December 22 on FOX.

Flexing into the Thursday night spot will be the Denver Broncos at the Los Angeles Chargers. That game was originally set for 4:05 Sunday on FOX.

This move is understandable. The Broncos and Chargers both could be playoff teams this season while the Bengals and Browns have a combined 7-15 record, though the Browns did just upset the Stealers Thursday night in the snow.

So, the Bengals have now been flexed into a primetime spot and flexed out of a primetime spot. They do have a Monday night game coming up on December 9 against the Dallas Cowboys, a game that has already been announced as not being flexed out because of the Simpsons production the league is planning for that game.

The NFL announced the Bengals Week 16 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, originally scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 19, will now take place Sunday, Dec. 22, and kick off at 1 p.m. on FOX.

Part two of The Battle of Ohio will also be the Bengals' annual Stripe The Jungle game. Fans are encouraged to check out the Stripe The Jungle map to see which color those in their section will be wearing to the game to help bring to life the Bengals stripe pattern.

The Bengals' first Stripe The Jungle game took place last season on Nov. 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Cincinnati came away with a 24-18 victory over Buffalo and will try to remain undefeated in Stripe The Jungle games on Dec. 22.

Cincinnati won its first matchup with the Browns 21-14 in Week 7 in Cleveland and looks to sweep the season series for the first time since 2017.

Good call.

Denver-LA for Wild Card birth.

I hate Thurs Nite games for the Bengals anyway.

I like Sunday at preferably 1 but 4 is allright.

No getting home late on a work day night and freezing one's patoot off.

Sunday afternoon games, as usual, are much better.

Bonus... seeing how many Cleveland knuckle dragging troglodytes show up on Thursday night

who didn't get the message.  Bwaaa Haaa Haaa!

I would be happy if the Bengals never had a Thursday night game ever again.

I'd be happy if no one had a Thursday night game ever again.

Sucks to suck I guess but TNF is shit tier anyway so it's a win for fans, national audience reasoning aside.

I like a Thursday night game of importance when any two teams go at it.

I just don't like  the Bengals on it.

I like  my Sundays at 1 or 4 enjoying the time listening to them.

On the one hand, one of the big sour talking points entering the season was the fact that starting in Week 14, the team (Bengals) had to play three games in a roughly 10-day span. They had a Monday night game on December 9, a Sunday game on December 15, and then a Thursday game on December 19. That’s now gone.
