Our Great President is tackling these horrendous economic policies the previous administration had no idea to solve..

Blame him what you want but he's struggling to become the top of the heap is unquestionable.

Truly the Greatest Leader ever..

These losers don't care if they suffer so long as they can blame someone else for it & then goon over watching them suffer more. It's creeps all the way down. You can't reason with them, they broke with reality a long time ago. All you're going to get is more Q-tarded moonbat word salad from Planet Trump. Total cult nonsense & bot behavior.

Nothing says "party of fiscal responsibility" like cutting health care funding to gild the White House in 24k gold like some tacky trailer park pimp with the country almost $40 trillion in debt.

I guess you can take the child sex trafficker out of Mar-a-Lago but you can't take the Mar-a-Lago out of the child sex trafficker.

Also this MTG being right about the economic realities has blown my mind, she's clearly crazy, but on this she is right. And as a reflection of the comments in the other thread why that is the case is worth paying attention to.

I did actually watch this last night. It was very interesting and a little scary.

Hoping they are wrong. We'll see.

I hope so, too. I’m less than 3 years away from retirement, if not sooner. But if the ACA tax subsidies go away, then I’m probably less than 3 years out.

retirement? 🤣

I am doing well for myself; I'll retire comfortably, not rich by any means, but well enough to not have to change too much in my lifestyle. My brother will work till he dies.

That's what the inequality of our society looks like.

Yeah that's not exactly a revelation to me, dude.

Counterpoint to our previous discussion of same: ICE isn't driving around Appalachia disappearing people for looking poor.

Well, ICE does need its useful idiots, so that shouldn't be surprising either.

$50K is real money, even if that bonus is paid out over a few years. I understand the masked Gestapo goon trying to hide his swastika tattoo is being exploited, but that doesn't change the fact he's a masked Gestapo goon with swastika tattoos. My sympathy ends somewhere short of the muzzle of their rifles, you know? Sorry the consumer lifestyle being sold to us isn't tenable for most people, that doesn't excuse disappearing your neighbors so you can afford a new bass boat or whatever. Particularly targeting the people most exploited to make our lifestyle remotely possible in the first place.

Puerto Rican dude gets tapped to play a Super Bowl gig and the response is to send ICE. Ignorant motherfuckers don't even know PR is a US colony, and not some random yokel off the street of Biloxi, it's the President of the Whole United States making these deranged sundowning sort of rants on social media. The nurse stole his cufflinks-type shitfits. That's where we're at as a country. Excuse me if I'm not being tolerant enough to my oppressors? Miss me with any of that gaslighting BS. When they stop pointing guns at me & my friends for no fucking reason & trying to disappear people for holding a sign on a street corner we can talk about our common class struggle, or really whatever you like.

This thread is getting hijacked from my initial intent for it.

I don't disagree with you but I do think there are alot of multifaceted reasons that people might end up at that place.

Lol. This asshole is just a one-trick pony. And the funny part would be this, if it weren't so serious: He doesn't realize that he is more vitriolic than many of those he hates on. I would say that T-dub is an extremist, except I know he doesn't do anything to change the world--except to bitch and moan about things. And his understanding of how the world works is so superficial that he thinks everything is a nail for his tiny little hammer.

You are nicer than I am, Jamie.

Now for some actual economics!

I'm glad to see you are reading/listening to Richard Murphy. One of the few Brits who has his shit together. Here's a bit I read this morning:

Economic Myths: Homo Economicus

Also, via the same site, from Wolf Richter:

The Huge US Bond Market and the US Dollar Blow off the "Debasement Trade."

And lastly, from Asia Times. I was acquaintances with a few of the people who run and write on the site back during the 80s. Interesting that some of them turned into bulletheads, while others are still radical. But the news is well-done here, and varied enough to get a real flavor of what people are thinking in Asia. I particulary liked this piece, because what the Cinese have accomplishe in the past few decades is among the most remarkable achievements in history. As you know, I spend a fair amount to time doing antebellum American political economy, and the resonance between that period and the accomplishments of the Chinese nation tickle me to no end.

C'mon Nobel Committee, Zhu Rongji is 96, do the right thing.

Also, I forgot. Stepanie Kelton's work is good on MMT, as is the whole MMT crowd. And although Michael Hudson is doing a lot of historical work in recent times (which I like), his other books on more modern issues is vital. I just reread Super-Imperialism again not too long ago and while some things have turned out differently since it's publication, it is still very good.

Yesterday I read an article that led with a Harry Braverman quote:

“ A class cannot exist in society without in some degree manifesting a consciousness of itself as a group with common problems, interests and prospects”

– Harry Braverman

That article was a little too ideological for me, but I was reminded that Braverman's book, "Labor and Monopoly Capital: The Degradation of Work in the Twentieth Century", when paired with Baran and Sweezy's "Monopoly Capital: An Essay on the American Economic and Social Order" are very good breakdowns of some fundamentals from a socialist perspective.

Yeah I met Arno through some mutual friends about 20 (closer to 30 now, damn) years ago. Post-Nazi skinhead but before he started that organization. I had no idea about his background until years later when he launched it & posted a bio etc. I don't know him well but a couple of my friends have kept up with him. Always struck me as a very genuine, heart on his sleeve type. Haven't thought of him in a while but whenever I sent a few bucks his way I knew it would be well spent. Dude's very, very driven to try and undue all the harm he caused being part of that scene.
