Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is the latest high-profile athlete who has been targeted in house burglaries.

While Burrow was playing on Monday Night Football, his house was broken into. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the police report indicated that a window at Burrow's house was shattered and "the room ransacked."

Burrow now joins the Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes as NFL athletes who have seen their houses burglarized.

Following the break-ins with Kelce and Mahomes, the NFL released a statement warning athletes about a "syndicate" that is specifically targeting professional athletes.

According to a report from Pelissero on the string of burglaries:

"Sources say the FBI is investigating the crime wave as international organized crime. The league, the NFL Players Association, and team security forces also have been monitoring the crime spree, which is believed to be tied to a South American crime syndicate. At least one other current NFL player's home was burglarized in the past week."

It appears the added security measures and warnings did not help Burrow, who is the latest victim in these home burglaries. Karin Johnson of WLWT revealed the 911 phone call regarding the break-in on her X page.

Johnson followed the initial report up with details of the call, which reads:

"Someone is trying to break in to the house right now. My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow's house. She is staying there. He's at the football game. She's wondering what she should do, if she should be hiding or if she should go outside."

"That woman's daughter also called 911 and said, 'Someone broke in to my house ... It's like completely messed up.'"

Due to Burrow being out of town, it appears that he was not able to reveal which items were taken from his house.

There are likely to be more security warnings sent out following this most recent break-in, which has now happened in a matter of months. The burglaries that occurred at the Mahomes and Kelce residents took place around mid-November. Now, a month later, Burrow has been added to this list.

It will be interesting to see what the NFL and FBI will do to ensure these situations do not occur any longer.

Joe Burrow’s home broken into during ‘Monday Night Football’

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - While Bengals star Joe Burrow was in Dallas for “Monday Night Football,” his Anderson Township home was broken into, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the break-in happened a little after 8 p.m. Monday.

Olivia Ponton, a model and social media influencer, found a shattered bedroom window and the room “ransacked,” according to an incident report from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

She called her mother, Diane Ponton, who made the call to 911, the incident report shows

Hamilton County dispatchers took the call from the mother who reported Olivia Ponton was at the quarterback’s home when the break-in occurred, according to a recording of the call released to FOX19 NOW.

“Someone is trying to break into the house right now,” Diane Ponton said on the recorded call. “My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She is staying there; He is at the football game.”

She also reported her daughter told her “someone was in the house.”

Olivia Ponton was identified on the incident report as an employee of Burrow’s.

An officer already working security at Burrow’s home when the break-in was reported to 911, the Hamilton County dispatcher told the caller.

When deputies arrived and looked around the home, an officer advised the suspects were no longer there. Deputies talked with neighbors to get surveillance video of the possible suspects.

A spokeswoman for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office clarified Tuesday night that the officer at Burrow’s home on a security detail is a “special Hamilton County deputy.”

“Good evening - to clarify, there was an off-duty Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Special Deputy at the scene when the burglary occurred (at Burrow’s home),” the spokesman, Kyla Woods, wrote in a media update.

A special deputy is someone who has completed the police academy to get certified in Ohio as a law enforcement officer, not an actual Hamilton County deputy on the sheriff’s regular paid staff as a deputy out on road patrol or assigned to a specialized investigative unit.

Special deputies can be retired from the agency or another one, or a correction officer. Street experience is not a requirement, according to the sheriff’s office website.

“The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Special Deputies is a volunteer organization committed to supporting and operating the Sheriff’s Office. The Special Deputies are comprised of people interested in serving their community as law enforcement deputies,” the website states.

Special Deputies have the same arrest powers and uniforms as full-time officers and are Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certified.

Special Deputies provide security at various community events, concerts, sporting events, and school and private events and can be called out by Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey for emergencies.

“Applications for the Special Deputies are always being accepted. Our hiring process includes interviews and an extensive background check process,” the sheriff’s office website says.

It was not immediately clear Tuesday how a special deputy came to be the one guarding Burrow’s home at a time when other law enforcement is investigating break-ins at other NFL players’ homes or who set up the security detail.

It also was not clear where that deputy was when the break-in occurred and/or if that person also reported the break-in or if Olivia Ponton’s mother was the only one.

The NFL recently issued a security memo about home burglaries after the residences of Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were broken into, the Associated Press reported last month.

Professional athletes’ homes were being “increasingly targeted for burglaries by organized and skilled groups,” the memo stated, according to the AP.

Burrow’s break-in occurred while he was out of state playing a game.

“Officials noted these groups target the homes on days the athletes have games,” the AP report notes.

Mahomes’ and Kelce’s homes were broken into before and on the day of the Chiefs’ Oct. 7 home game against the New Orleans Saints.

A spokeswoman with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday they do not believe Burrow’s break-in is connected to these other burglaries.

FOX19 NOW reached out to the Cincinnati office of the FBI to see if agents are investigating Burrow’s break-in.

An agency spokesman said he could not confirm or deny any investigation, according to FBI policy.

Thought he might have a “she drains the pipes” line in there

I was thinking he may be a mucker fucker.

BTW... I'm finding the whole situation with Olivia kind of creepy and she's kind of creepy, too.

Like, why are we just finding out about her now and like this?  No big dinners at The Precinct with her on his arm?

Wonder if he's taken her home to Dearest Mother yet?

She's a gold digger who just hit the mother lode and is going to be nothing but trouble down the line.

The entire dynamic does seem incredibly bizarre

Definitely weird all around.  Several WTF's in this story.

I feel bad for Joe.  Maybe I'm reading more into his comments than he intended, but I almost get the impression he's more upset about the exposing of details including showing his house, etc, than he is about the actual break-in/burglary itself.  Would be interesting to get some of the answers to those WTF questions, but on the other hand, it's really none of our business.

hm, am i odd that i didnt find any of it strange?

its ohio. there is no paparazzi, the media barely exists, hell half the media room is 30+ yr old men who live with thier parents, and i had no idea who this chick was, so i dout too many people around cincy did, and with clothes on and no makeup im guessing no one would ever know. He seemed to always hide this stuff, if it wasnt for dating the previous Olivia in college and HER posting shit about them, i wouldnt have known she existed either. id imagine his displeasure is if he was attempting some sort of real relationship with her, now thats fucked, shes going to be saught after and looked for and tracked down and talked to and everything is fucked. She could have been in a box watching every single game and no one would know if it wasnt pointed out who she was knowing what she was there for.

sort of off topic. when i ran a teen club off colerain ave, we hired off duty police for security, a couple of times when shit went down they didnt do anything, fights, etc they didnt care, they were literally there for show, i asked them "wtf why didnt you stop that fight" they told me "we arent on duty, we arent here for that" but i had to keep them, i had to walk $5,000 in cash per night to another building, count, split and pay everyone involved, and they wore guns, even if they refused to use them.

so im not surprised that off duty volunteer whatever guy wasnt doing anything fucking useful, aside from collecting $75-100/hr to wear a uniform. hell i paid $150/hr for a pair in 2001, so maybe way more than that now.

Even if they're on duty they have no legal obligation to protect anyone. Castle Rock v. Gonzalez, 2008 I think being a recent famous example?  Repeatedly failed to enforce a restraining order, guy killed his 3 kids, ex-wife sued and SCOTUS told her "tough shit".

The days of "Protect & Serve," went out the window in the late 70's/early 80's.  Now they are nothing more than a revenue source for

whatever municipality they work in whether it be city, county or state.  Trained to subvert your rights, (knowing your rights and using

them is a must nowadays!) it's okay for the cops to lie to you but against the law for you to lie to the cops, (what happened to no one

is above the law!?) "Qualified Immunity," is another BS legal doctrine they hide behind as far as Civil Liability & Damages.  (Sure you can

win a case of it but the money comes from the taxpayers instead of the Police Officer and/or their Pension Funds.)
