Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer appeared on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd," and talked about the frustration he's sensing with current Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

Cowherd asked Palmer whether his heart goes out to Burrow, the starting quarterback of a 5-8 team who leads the NFL this season with 3,706 passing yards and 33 touchdowns.

"It's not what I see from a skills standpoint or production on the field, because production on the field is second to none," Palmer replied. "I just see a frustration on his face, and that's what concerns me. You know, it looks to be building. It looks to be weighing on him. I think the thing that jumps out at me is you can see the frustration on his face. It's tough to put up the numbers he's put up, to score the points they've put up and be in the situation they're in, which is on the outside looking in. Their playoff shot this year, unfortunately, looks to be slim to none, and you've got to start thinking about next year. But I'm starting to see some frustration to grow on Joe's face and that's concerning."

In February 2022, Palmer, the Bengals' starting quarterback for seven seasons, said he thought Burrow "has multiple Super Bowls in the future."

"I think Joe's gonna sit back after this game, win or lose, and be like, 'Man, am I gonna re-sign with this team? Are they willing to do what it takes to continuously build to get back to the next Super Bowl? Next year and the year after that and the year after that? How are they willing to structure salary-cap wise to be able to afford me, but to also be able to afford Ja'Marr Chase when he comes up or Tee Higgins or maybe even re-do this offensive line?'" Palmer said in 2022, adding that he was rooting for the Bengals in the Super Bowl that year against the Rams.

In January 2020, Palmer said he "wanted out" because he "never felt like the (Bengals') organization was really trying to win a Super Bowl."

In 2019, Palmer was critical of the Bengals during an interview with John Middlekauff, calling the organization a "mess and disaster" and adding that "when you have that added pressure and stress of not trusting the organization and knowing that they don't know what they're doing, that's just an added amount of stress you don't need as a young player. … 8-8 is like winning the Super Bowl for the organization in Cincinnati."

Yeah, he see's "frustration on Joe's face" because the team has lost a lot of games. Any competitor would be frustrated and it would show on their face. That doesn't mean they're thinking about quitting on the team or abandoning the franchise. Palmer is projecting his values and weaknesses onto Burrow because he wants a similar outcome to his, which would make his quitting look less shitty.

Palmer is like the person who can't stop talking about his ex and wants his friend to get a divorce so he'll feel less bad about causing his, and unfortunately there's no shortage of podcast people or reporters or whatever who are happy to hand him a microphone. It's tiresome.

Remind me... What amazing accomplishments did Carson achieve once he was free of the Bengals paying him like Peyton Manning? What was it we were holding him back from??

If he's going to spend the next 20 years saying we didn't put a Super Bowl winning team around him... Where's the proof that he had that kind of ceiling?

He won a single solitary playoff game with the Cardinals and then shit all over himself in the NFC championship game throwing 4 picks lol

Carson just wants attention so he's saying what the media wants to hear.

He forced his way out of Cincinnati, why is he still talking about us 20 years later.

Hot Take: The frustration is good. Joe Burrow is growing right now.

Even at the beginning of this year, good or bad, Burrow would sit there like a Zen master serial killer.

Yesterday, Joe ripped a receiver for not fighting for the ball in a game that was well in hand. And then told Zac to STFU about not ripping him.

I think it's the kind of leadership we need.

I saw in another thread people attributing Joe's chewing out Taylor on the sideline being about WRs. Did we get confirmation of that, anywhere, that we know actually what it was that he was saying or talking about (beyond the obvious first part of the lip reading)? I missed that if it came out.

no these dumbasses making up their own mind on shit. Jomboy did a video, its been broken down, joe responded in the media. fucking clowns saying joe is ripping Zach is laughable, its is essentially throwing an angry tantrum. nothing he is saying is directed at Taylor, joe was pissed about the penalties, the red zone one especially right before that, joe says "its fucking embarassing" "i dont care" "its so fucking bad" "we should be beating these guys by 80"

one without some limp dick agenda would assume he was telling joe to take it easy, and joe wasnt having it, but joe doesnt know Zach already yelled at the shitty TE for the penalties, which is also clearly on video, "three times in one game, we can do that" needless to say that dude probably isnt gonna get a gang of snaps next week.

its gettting pathetic the clown behavior fictionalizing fake beef with joe and zach. they clearly get along just fucking fine. both of them talked about the frustration with th ehelmet speakers going out, the mics going out, the poor execusion.

there is no other logic behind people saying "he is cussing out zach" than a sad sad sad pathetic agenda based on no fact. he was pissed that dudes were fucking up. he didnt care that they still scored, he knows that wont always be the case. and zach is being a grown ass adulkt coach and taling to him to make sure it doesnt turn into some negative lockr room type shit.

there is a time and a palce for everything. joe can be pissed, frustrated, everything, and zach can help guide that frustration.

and Cam Grandy can go open a State Farm Agency and leave all of us alone.

I said it in the other thread too. So, I might be "people".

I'm 99% sure that's what he's saying to Zac in the video I've seen of it close up.

"... goes straight emu face.."

That was definitely a brutal moment.

That was a fun breakdown, I think Joe was saying "easy" not "eighty" but it doesn't matter.  I'll have to disagree with the esteemed Mr. Carson Palmer and say I'd be much more concerned if Joe WASN'T frustrated.  Joe's 100% correct, that shit is embarrassing and they're supposed to be running a professional operation, the game was just chalk full of embarrassing, classic, "bungle" moments.  I'd also argue Zac shouldn't be doing the "aw shucks man, 3 times?  C'mon man..".   Fucking bench them.  Send a message.  It's Cam Grandy ffs, this is the part of the roster that's supposed to churn, don't pat them on the head.
