Arkansas Bengal Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 Story by Chris Roling Dec 15, 2024; Nashville, Tennessee, USA; Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (5) salutes the Cincinnati Bengals fans that traveled against the Tennessee Titans post game at Nissan Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images© Steve Roberts-Imagn Images Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins "would love" to stay with the team on a long-term extension. So says the star wideout himself in a new interview with TMZ Sports ahead of his team's Week 16 game against the Cleveland Browns. There, Higgins confirmed he wants to be with the Bengals, although he added a"this business is crazy" for good measure. This stance isn't all that new for Higgins, as he's remained adamant about the situation for the better part of a year, at least. But this comment comes at an interesting time. Joe Burrow just put very public pressure on the Bengals front office to get a Higgins extension done. Ja'Marr Chase then did the same. Right after that, Higgins split from agent David Mulugheta -- and just so happened to hire the same reps as Chase. The writing very much appears to be on the wall about what Higgins wants. While the Bengals getting Chase and Higgins extended together will be tricky, the team has the cap room and all three clearly want it. Plus, funnily enough, it helps that the team's poor drafting means they don't have to pay up big elsewhere on the roster right now. If the Bengals get serious with the proper cash, contract structure, and guarantees, Higgins won't hit the free-agent market. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/tee-higgins-breaks-silence-on-contract-extension-status-with-bengals/ar-AA1wahqz?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=a5f51fdfb79245f180d50b2c1229b671&ei=193 2 Quote
sparky151 Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 Well, sure, he'd like to stay if the Bengals offer fair market value. But that's not likely to happen, they'll want a hometown discount. Burrow has said he's willing to help out and if that simply means a typical restructuring, it's not very significant as the team doesn't like to kick the can down the road on payments. If Burrow is willing to take an actual paycut to ensure Uno and Tee are back, that would be big. 2 Quote
WRAPradio Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 I'm assuming Joe could convert some of his money to be guaranteed...if Mikey will do that. 1 Quote
|BlackJesus| Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 Hopefully they learned their lesson from letting Bates walk and watching him in the Pro Bowl. Sign the Big 3 (it's doable, just like Miami and Philly did) and then draft guards and defensive players. 3 2 Quote

If Burrow is willing to take an actual paycut to ensure Uno and Tee are back, that would be big. no one expects a hometown discount, no idea why you think that is the case. the bengals offer fair deals, and that typically means fair market deals. but fans are dumbasses, players are dumbasses, and agents are crooks. for fake numbers example, lets say the bengals offer Tee 26 million for 4 years, so 4/$104 and the Falcons offer 4/$118. the bengals deal would look something like 1. $24m, 2. $25.5m, 3. 26m 4. 4. $28.5m. but the falcons would look something like: 1-$25m, 2-$27m, 3-29.5m, 4-36.5m. if each team guarantees the first three years, bengals is 75.5 guarantee, falcons is 81.5 guarantee. so falcons deal looks great. but the falcons have no intention of paying that 4th year, and the bengals have every intention of paying that 4th year because its a reasonable number. the default mode of the media and agents leaking info is always bengals hate, i know its silly to expect fans to be reasonable and logical, but the bengals do right by their players far more than most teams, Dak Prescotts deal is 89mil cap hit next year, and 32% of the total cap, then 67, 61, 72. Burrows deal never hits over 53.5mil until the last year its, 68, which can be paid or restructured if needed. in 2029 it wont be outlandish for a 68mil cap hit for a top QB. but if it is that can be adjusted.and its a 2 mil cap hit if cut at that point also. fans seem to confuse "hometown discount" for offering contracts the players will actually finish instead of a flashy headline people care about for about 31 hours of their lives. 12 hours ago, WRAPradio said: I'm assuming Joe could convert some of his money to be guaranteed...if Mikey will do that. mike doenst have anything to do with that.. mike is 90 fucking years old. can the man just sit in his office in a short sleeve dress shirt in peace. 11 hours ago, BlackJesus said: Hopefully they learned their lesson from letting Bates walk and watching him in the Pro Bowl. So a losing team with no future or QB in sight, has nearly 10% of the teams cap tied up in a safety. They can opt out of cousins deal instead, and take a 35 mil cap hit AFTER next season. at which point theyll have 20% of the cap tied up in a QB not on the roster and a Safety, on a still bad team. Bates is fantastic, and deserves the cash grab, ill be surprised if he finishes that deal, a rebuild is likely to happen before then, and no ones keeping a top safety for top dollars during a rebuild. jamal adams has played 44 games in the last 5 seasons for 3-4 different teams, seeing less than 50mil of the 4 year 70 mil deal he signed in seattle. so he saw 12.5mil a year average out of a 17.5mil a year deal. happens every single season. we would be a playoff team with Bates for sure. same could be said for a edge or a CB1 if we had one on the roster/spent for better ones... thats how it goes. 1 1 Quote
saphead Posted December 20, 2024 Report Posted December 20, 2024 The Bengals could agree to pay the salaries of any SI swimsuit models on Burrows staff which could help in the re-structuring. Little things like that make all the difference. Quote

You must have some strong arms and shoulders from carrying water for the Bengals front office. The Falcons do a have QB, their first round pick who is starting. They will more than likely restructure Cousins deal to make him the backup to Penix. The way the Bengals structure their contracts is antiquated and holding the franchise back, this is has been said by former players, NFL execs, and agents. 3 Quote

Lol. He said last year that he'd have taken the Pittman deal for 3/70. His former agent said the Bengals didn't make a serious multi-year deal after tagging him. Now, if the Bengals want to keep him, it will cost more. 2 Quote
