Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins went off in Saturday's 30-24 win over the Denver Broncos. In a must-win game for Cincinnati's playoff hopes, Higgins caught 11 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns, including a dominant drive in overtime to help the Bengals improve to 8-8.

Higgins, of course, is a free agent after the season. Playing on the franchise tag in 2024, the Bengals must also pay fellow wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase this offseason. It's almost mathematically impossible for Cincinnati to pay Joe Burrow, Chase and Higgins.

With so many teams needing wide receivers this offseason, Higgins will have no shortage of suitors. The Patriots, Panthers and Commanders are among the teams with the cap space, cash, and a need at wide receiver. Washington has Terry McLaurin, who is having a phenomenal season but badly needs a legit difference-maker opposite him for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Could Higgins be that guy? Would general manager Adam Peters splurge on Higgins? While Higgins will be expensive, he is 6-foot-4, only 25 (26 in January), and highly productive. He could be exactly what Washington needs to take its offense to the next level.

While it's unclear where Peters stands on Higgins, Commanders' fans made it clear on X — formerly Twitter — where they stand.

This Eagles fan does not want Higgins in Washington.

Get your own WR.

—Duke Tobin

Somehow, someway the Bengals have to keep the trio intact.

Spotrac has Ters value at 19.8 per

Let's say Chase signs 5 yrs 38 per

Tee signs 4 yrs 25 mil.per

With JB deferring money down the he road, it can be done..

It's the greatest show on turf since the Rams with

Warner, Bruce , Holt and Faulk

At this point, if they can't hammer out a contract that works for both sides (maybe Burrow/others restructuring helps with that) they pretty much have to double tag him

I don't think that double tag is in the cards.

Talk about playing with fire..that would incite it.

I say it must be done at any cost. Even if that means we gotta roll with some minimum contract guys on defense.

If he stays, Tobin has to come up big in the draft.

Improving the pass rush is a priority...

Interior Oline as well..

Literally, the Bengals have no one else worth paying. And a ton of cap space. I have broken down the math previously... They have enough cap to roll with Tee on the second tag if they have to. ($26M) $19.8 leaves them an extra $6M to pay Geisecki or something. (And again, a $20M AAV is not a day 1 $20M cap hit. Justin Jefferson is an $8M cap hit this year)

We have a ton of guys on mid level contracts, but the only big guaranteed money is Burrow.

There is no big CB name coming out worth paying top dollar to, nor edge rusher. If you're of a mind that we need to let Tee walk to upgrade LG... You're a moron. Sors. If you think it would be mean to cut Sam Hubbard's $11M to keep Tee... Same. If you're too worried about the 2028 cap ramifications... You're Katie Blackburn and you need to stop it.

The Bengals can and should resign Tee Higgins.

When was the last time he did that?

In hindsight I think Marvin Lewis was a big part of those deep drafts.  They haven't hit across the board like that since he left.

Everyone wants Tee.  Except the Bengals front office.

Maybe.

I would think Burrow, saying he wants Higgins back.Has to carry some weight with the front office.

I hope it doesn’t turn into the whitworth situation with bengals. The qb at time, quit, because team didn’t want to keep whitworth his best friend. Tee is burrows bestie hangs out at his house all time. If we do nothing like we always do tee leaves with us getting nothing. We lost quiter, got bag sand for him nothing for an all pro hof tackle who beat us in Super Bowl.

What QB quit because the Bengals didn’t pay Whitworth?

Palmer it was said in interviews from whitworth and Palmer. Water under bridge new day and hopefully better decisions.

Palmer left long before the Whitworth sitch. Palmer left in 2010, and Whitworth didn't get PO'ed until 2013.
