Hopefully they won't be able to play because we'll be in the Super Bowl. :)

In working this story about the #Bengals defense, I dove down this filter and it’s a jarring reminder. Solely comparing how everyone played against winning teams this year, no individual unit was in the same stratosphere of bad as the Cincinnati defense. Also, Record: 1-7

He won't win the MVP unless they make the playoffs.

Even then there's Jackson, Allen and Barkley to deal with.

Very few times has  runner rushed for over

2000 yrds.

Hed have my vote.

I will be disappointed if we don’t make the playoffs and the odds back my pessimism.  It is highly unlikely.  However, the season ended on a very high note especially the defense.  What frustrates me about Lou is why did it take him so long to:

1.  Realize the defense was too complicated and he needed to dumb it down

2.  Start a youth movement trusting the youngsters more.  I understand this is congruent with the prior point.  The question needs to be ask

3.  Relying on Hubbard and Bell too much

I believe Lou saved his job but he was too late fixing these issues.  It probably cost us the playoffs.  Great coaches would be more decisive on these decisions.  However, the defense isn’t great but I am more optimistic about the future today than I was six weeks ago.  We have some players on the defensive line and in the secondary like newton, battle, Jenkins, McKinley, and some others showed up at the end of the season.

Lou may have been late to adjusting but Zac has never adjusted to slow starts for every season, his weak time management, or his weak play calling.

I assume Lou stays now but please Re-sign Trey!

I too believe Lou will be back, saved his job simplifying the defensive scheme and trusting the youngsters. Definitely took too long to do so though. Lock up Trey for longer and then hit it out of the park this upcoming draft and we'll be cooking with gas

I'm pretty encouraged by our rookie DTs but still want to add a 3rd guy so we can have a solid rotation. I'm a big believer the defense was a top unit when it had Reader, Ogunjobi, and Hill as the 3rd.

agreed. Hard for DTs to blow up in year 1 so I look for both to improve quite a bit in the fall. Even if they bring BJ back, they need more ballast.
