I'm too lazy to research it...so...what kind of TE is Fant? I mean I'm very familiar with the name and I know he's a good one, but is he heavily skewed to the pass catching big wide receiver type like Gronk, Kelce, Gesicki? or more the oldschool blocking TE, or just a good combination of both?

He's a pass catcher who can block a little (better than Gesecki)

The way the Bengals are chasing Fant just reminds me of what a setback it was to lose Erick All for the entire year. I still not sure most Bengals fans even realize how promising All was (and hopefully still is) as a dual threat TE. They had been chasing a blocking/receiving combo type for years before they found All. I don't know who did his ACL surgery when he played for Iowa, but it seems like the surgeon butchered something up. My biggest hope is that All can have his new surgery relatively soon, and will have a long offseason in order to get back to where he was last season. Aside from maybe Mims, All was the best rookie on the team and his snap counts were steadily increasing.

I was hoping back in the spring that the team would trade for Michael Mayer. Raiders were shopping him for a 4th round pick. I bet they would have taken Pratt+ a 5th or 6th. Mayer and Raiders seem to have patched things up now though.

Volson blocks better than Gesecki. Sure he sucks at it but he makes the attempt. Gesecki the type of TE to step out of bounds to avoid a DB. Maybe the softest TE I've ever seen.

Gesicki isn't really a TE, he's a big WR. He can block DBs, but not LBs or DEs. He's no Reggie Kelly

I don't think Jenkins is ever going to be the Geno-type penetrating pass rushing sack artist, and so that's still a hole on the team. For the time being, that guy may be Shemar. Biggest jump for this team this year will come from potential improved LB play, but more importantly if one of Ossai/Murphy can take a big next step (as that would allow flexibility for Stewart).

The one thing out of camp I don't like hearing is that the DBs arent winning. I realize that Joe is Joe and we have the best 1,2 in the league at WR. But CTB and Turner are the outside starters? Is Dax not playing at all? I like hearing Newton's name but shouldn't he be the 1st CB off the bench? What is going on with Hill, he's supposed to be healthy isnt he?

He returned to practice today, played both nickel and outside. Sounds like somewhat of an "ease him back in" snap count approach.

DB's cant cover Chase even with pads and in real game time let alone no pads or contact

Interesting in Hill, they’re definitely easing him in but as someone noted, he played both outside and nickel today.

A lot of peeps believe Dax will start outside - but Hobs mentioned on Hoard’s latest pod that he thinks Dax is the nickel.

I’m sure it’ll make itself evident soon but clearly Al and staff are wanting some versatility from guys like Hill, CTB, Turner and Fig. In the end, I kinda thought Fig would get the slot with Hill and CTB outside and DJ, Ivey and Marco in reserve.
