Wow, two first round picks! With any luck, they could draft someone almost as good as Micah Parsons!

Exactly the meme I sent to my Cowboys-fan family.

Question folks...Is beer really this cheap at Paycor? I have my doubts

I pay $14 in Columbus for MLS. It seemed like a ripoff and now that's confirmed.

It was easy for me to call BS on that low a price at PBS. Went back through my bank account…even last year, it was never lower than $9

Bengals gamble, lose on waiver wire thanks to Patriots

The Cincinnati Bengals attempted to slip rookie defensive lineman Eric Gregory onto the practice squad after cutting him Thursday while making room for free-agent signing Dalton Risner

As it turns out, the New England Patriots had other plans.

When waiver claims processed the next day, the Patriots raised their hand for and were rewarded Gregory, ending his time in Cincinnati.

While signing Risner, the Bengals waived one player from the practice squad, presumably to keep a single spot open for Gregory.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

So the Patriots waive Peppers and pick up an undrafted free agent rookie. M'k.

Spot open on the practice squad.

Room for one of the meh 53 to be waived and re-signed to the practice

squad if we pick up Peppers.

Which I woiuld really like to see happen.

Still think a healthy Peppers is better than an oft injured Stone.

I do t know how much of a gamble that move was. I would take a starting OL over a rookie DT prospect any day.

Except Risner isn't expected to be a starter for Cincinnati, although it's a long season and Lucas Patrick has certainly been injured in the past. In the spring, the Bengals wanted to bring in a guard in free agency. They chose to take Patrick over Risner. They brought in Risner for a visit almost immediately after Volson suffered a significant shoulder injury. No reason to think Risner would even be here if the backup guard Volson hadn't suffered a season-ending injury.

I and lots of other people expect Risner to become the starting RG in short order. He's a better player than Patrick. O-lines need to operate as a unit so as a new signee, maybe he doesn't start vs the steamers, but he should be in there pretty soon.

I am not sure they chose Patrick over Risner as Risner may simply have not been willing to sign with anyone until TC ended. Besides, even an above average backup OL is better than a fringe DL on the roster. The only reason Gregory made the first 53 was due to lack of depth on the OL. There was little to no chance he was going to remain on the roster let alone be on the active roster.

Not a slight on him at all just reality. Risner at worst is our #6 OL and Gregory at best is our #10 DL. No comparison.

He will be as soon as he is in football shape. IMO

I don't think the Bengals front office & coaches view Risner the way some fans do. It feels to me like they view Risner as around the same level as Cody Ford, another 2019 2nd rounder picked at around the same slot.

OL isn't a rotational position like DL is. The same 5 linemen play every down unless they suffer an injury. Late arriving backups like Risner don't get a chance to prove their worth in reg season practices because they are so light.

Remember, that the much-maligned Cordell Volson started 45-50 games over 3 seasons before losing his starting job last year in week 12 last year. The Bengals were 4-7 at the time coming off of 2 brutal loses. Even as much as he struggled, I don't think Volson would have lost his starting spot if the Bengals had been 7-4 instead of 4-7. They would have just went with the continuity of an OL that was far from perfect but wasn't costing them many games.

No reason to think a Patrick will lose the starting job unless BOTH he and the Bengals are struggling. Otherwise, I think it would take an injury to either Patrick or Burrow, whichever came first, to force a change in the OL. So if that's what it would take for Patrick to lose the starting job, I guess I hope he is the starter for all 17 games and then the playoffs.

The answer to the "what in the hell was the actual 2nd verse of the original Who Dey song?" is "They can pass and kick and run. Watching them is lots of fun."

And yes, kids, the Who Dey song you hear at PBS is a much-shortened version of the original.

Regarding the "Bengal Growl", if you're ever walking through the jungle and hear something that sounds like a short burst from a tuba, you're about to get eaten by a tiger.

Mountain lions sometimes chirp like birds when they are hunting. I did not know this when I heard it outside one night.

I have a Bengal and he does the same exact thing when he sees a bird though the window or when I’m taking him on a walk.
