|SF2| Posted January 5 Report Posted January 5 6 hours ago, SF2 said: Monday Monday.... The Hot Seat??!! LV Raiders: 4-12. Current coach Antonio Pierce 1 year. New minority owner Tom Brady. No legitimate QB. Fired the O coordinator, QB and Oline coach in November. Team is in total disarray. Never hire the players' buddy. New York Giants 3-13. Current coach Brian Daboll 3 yrs 18-31-1. Lost 10 in a row then inexplicably beat the Colts last week. No legitimate QB, in fact they benched and released their "22-44-1 Franchise QB" earlier in the season. Jacksonville Jaguars 4-12. Current coach Doug Pederson 3 yrs 22-28. According to team owner this was supposed to be the best team ever assembled in Jacksonville. Trevor Lawrence is quickly becoming a footnote in the NFL. We shall see. Dallas Cowboys 7-9 Current Mike McCarthy 5yrs 49-34. McCarthy's contract ends at approximately 4pm EST today and well, its the Cowboys. Cleveland Browns 3-14 Current Kevin Stefanski 5yrs 40-44. The gift that keeps on giving, Deshaun Watson, simply can't be blamed on Stefanski. I would be more worried about him stepping down since the future looks horrible but we shall see. New England Patriots 3-13 Current Jarod Mayo 1 year. Guessing he gets another year but it has been pretty ugly except the win against the Bengals of course. Maye looks like a keeper at QB. UPDATE: Mayo fired. Tennessee Titans 3-13 Current Brian Callahan 1 year. Tough 1st year for the former Bengals OC. The QB of the future looks NOTHING the part. Callahan is probably safe but the QB spot is a serious issue. Interim Coaches who should be looking for employment elsewhere... New York Jets 4-12. Nobody cares who the interim coach is. Fired both the head coach and GM already. Needs to be burned down. No QB. New Orleans Saints 5-11. They show signs of life on occasion but this is a complete tear down and rebuild. No QB. Chicago Bears 4-12. Just another day in the park on a Saturday, you would think it was the 4th of July. Probably ok at QB for now but their coaching this year was borderline criminal. So I am guessing 8 for sure vacancies. UPDATES: Mayo fired. Quote

Does anyone think the last couple of weeks have saved Lou's job? I have my doubts. What about Pollack? I've been complaining about him for awhile and he always seems to stick. the bengals have good coaches, why would they fire them? Pollack sticks because he is a good coach. never in the history of sports has any coach made bad players into good players. so why would you fire good coaches who have bad players? If youre getting better (or healthy) players back, then why would you fire guys who can succeed with good players? The change of system and staff alone is a setback of sorts. Not as much with a position coach like Pollack, but coordinators and such is a huge change. 1 hour ago, New Jersey Bengal said: Pollack needs to go Lou stays why? is there some coach you know of who can make volson a good LG? i dont think there are. But even with the shit heep of players on the Oline we had a top 5-ish scoring offense. there arent exactly a gang of legendary OL coaches waiting to be hired somewhere... changing for the sake of change isnt productive.. you want a better oline? get a better group of players and health and youll have a better oline. 38 minutes ago, bentheprop said: They both need to go. So you're saying "Fire Duke"? I'd co-sign that but it is also true that Pollack is a below average O-line coach. When we brought in vets like OBj, Karras, and Cappa, they play worse for the Bengals than their prior teams. Also saying no coach ever turned a bad player into a good player is nonsense. That's what coaches are hired to do and sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. Josh Allen was a bad NFL QB in 2018 and is a great one now, for instance. Anarumo should be fired because the players weren't executing his scheme, apparently because they were unsure of their assignments. NFL games are played at speed and dithering over who to take as the receivers move downfield is a sign of bad coaching. There are lots of examples all season long of Bengal DBs blowing their coverage. That's on the DC as much as the players. 2 Quote

Lou's whole philosophy doesn't work. Yards, not points is a set up for failure when drives start at the 30 and kickers can hit from 50+. Also if the defensive draft picks aren't panning out then someone needs to be blamed and I would start with the guy in charge of them since we know they won't do anything with the front office. Lou needs players to adjust to his defense. A better coordinator would adjust his scheme to work with what he has. 2 Quote
Spotto Posted January 6 Report Posted January 6 Did the Bengals D play well yesterday, or did the Squeelers O play well? - Tomlin going for it on 4th down - fail - Pickens multiple drops - Wilson multple over throws - Wilson not running OOB. I say the D was still below-average and often lost on assignments. We were lucky to win! Get a new DC and let 'em at our new younger D line and D backs! It cant be worse...... 1 Quote

That's what is said when your side of the ball isn't good, it's not a philosophy. It usually refers to defenses that play to always keep the ball in front of them. The other team can dink and dunk their way down the field but in the final 20 yards, the defense doesn't have to defend deep and can be more aggressive. 2 Quote

Pollock is the OL coach who decided he wanted the lengthiest set of "glass-eating" guards in NFL history, somehow forgetting that DTs can get underneath leverage against these NBA-sized OG freaks and push the pocket right back into Burrow's face. I know it isn't Pollock's fault that the front office wasn't willing to pay longtime Cincinnati native/Bengals fan Joe Thuney top guard money when they could pick up some thrift store fill-ins instead (gee, how has that plan worked out in the Burrow era?) Still, let's not act like Pollock doesn't have considerable influence on which rookies and free agents they bring in. 2 Quote

Richardson isn’t of any use with a 47% comp rate but he is still only 22. I have a little more faith in Levis but he had moments where he looked utterly horrible. Andy Dalton 2nd half Chargers playoff game horrible on numerous occasions. Crazy as it sounds, Aaron Rodgers might be a decent 1 year solution in Tennessee. 1 Quote
