This feels like someone fed her info to throw the trail off, as I'm guessing they arent ready to announce anything yet. I tend to believe the players in situations like this.

Players typically have a good idea, as I would imagine any guy that comes in would want to at least meat the guys he would be in charge of?

If the info was coming from a vet like Hendrickson, I might actually believe that the decision had already been made.

Here I was hoping that Burton was the only dumbass rookie on the team...

I would think a Vet would know better than to say anything, a rookie not as much.

Did they already do the interviews with the Pats and Raiders guys?

Maybe this.

The things we know Taylor said

- Needs to be familiar with AFC North

- Not a new to the DC job type

Who is available that fits that?

Tosh Lupoi DC Oregon.

Was the Dline coach for Cleveland back in 19.

Was hired by Dan Quinn, Urban Meyer and Oregon HC..

His salary of 1.9 is more than Lou made 1.4 so they'll at least have to match

Oregon .

Talks and negotiations may be underway .

Known as a great teacher and motivater.

What's the rule as far as having to announce interviews? They already announced with the two other guys, do they have to announce with college coaches?

They can interview any college coaches right now

as long as the school gives them permission to do so

Ancient history but when I got my first Bengals season tic I went to the office in Riverfront.

As I was leaving, I found myself face to face (face to chest) with Forrest Greg who had recently been fired in Cleveland, knew who he was.

No idea he was even being considered but was announced as HC shortly thereafter.

More likely both already have either “double secret” offers or they simply are not coaching next year.

My guess is Saleh is getting offers for HC spots. Nobody thinks he was the problem at the Jets.

yea the jets are thier own problem

really does, Was Al here when we drafted Wilson and Pratt, they were killer early compared to recently.. maybe some connection there?

I dont know much about Pleasant

San Fran looks like Salahs spot once again.

Possibly goes to Chicago as their DC on hot seat

id certainly be going SF over CHicago, but id go both over Ohio..

Al Golden makes more at Notre Dame

more than what?

why do you think the DC pay is some set amount in cincinnati? he makes 2-ish in college, making 2.5 even 3 wouldnt be nuts for bengals, Taylor is at 4.5, thats a big enough gap. 33%. and a NFL DC opens up nfl and college HC gigs if he does well, so seems perfectly logical.

why on EARTH do you think the bengals magically just pay 1.4

wtf is going on right now?

16 hours ago, MichaelWeston said:

Saleh isn't coming here.....he will get a head coach job or just go back to San Francisco.

Allen may or may not be interviewed. It's possible that he burned a bridge the first go around but Rapien doesn't say that....Go to about 4:12. but he just said he's heard rumors. I've never known James Rapien to have his pulse on anything. If Dehner says it I will believe it. Rapiens top guy is a guy who makes 2M a year as a DC at Oregon. He's going to leave to go to Cincinnati for 1.4M?

no one should ever listen to James. His dumbass fucking faces on all of his media alone is worth blocking him and reporting it as offensive.

well battle is neither a rookie nor a dumbass...

id imagine everyone on the defense would know IF a decision was made. id imagine Battle was th eonly one silly enough to say something IF a decision has been made.

IF they announce someone once tey lose in the playoffs or a college team is done... then its probably safe to say Battle knew.

So we shall see.  I cant think of many nfl playoff guys, but frankly i dont know, any hot up and coming DB/LB/DL coaches in the nfl playoffs right now that should be getting looks?

kelsey conway sucks.

Rapin made a good point when he was talking about college coaches.

They may be more willing to jump now because some of them might not want to deal with all the NIL and transfer portal stuff.

I think its a bit of an indictment that Taylor doesn't seem to want a known commodity at DC and wants a younger unknown—essentially hiring a worse person who won't push him.

I think we dont really know that yet.

It seems like they are going against the former head coaches (Allen, Saleh, Eberflus, Staley) and will be going toward lesser-known guys. Let's take a look. Also talk of them waiting on playoff guys

1. Jim Leonhard

Broncos DBs and passing game coordinator

DC a@ Wisconsin.

10 years in the league as a safety

2. Aubrey Pleasant

AHC-Passing game coordinator for rams

Interviewed for us the first time around-Then went to Lions

Was fired in detroit

3. Christian Parker

Eagles Passing game and DBs coach

well he said they want someone with experience, so i think that contradicts that thought. which is why some of us thought it was odd the potential rooney rule guys were younger, as he had JUST said he wants someone with experience.

now what experience means is up for debate.

i am really really liking the Golden option, was here with taylor, did good enough to get grabbed and a 10x pay raise promotion, but if they win it all in CFP could he get even bigger opportunities?

lots of dots seem to fit wit that one though.

sounds like Allen is out, he was my favorite before that, he and Golden.

yea Jamie GAWD...

but seriously.... why do you think there is a set pay rate for the DC job.....  with the "he makes more now" type comments..

i am befuddled, am i missing something someone said or you assuming the pay just stays the same no matter the candidate?

Its really hard to respond to your posts when you do the multiquotes.

You also seem to be rushing in bullying a bunch of people then disappear for a bunch of days. and its hard to respond because when I go to quote you it has every post you said.

As far as salary it could definitely go up but I don't think they are going to fire Anarumo, pay him to not be here, after they gave him raises to stay and then suddenly go up to 2M or 2.5M for a DC. That's a 1/3 to 2/3 raise. Now maybe you do that for Saleh or a big name but they don't seem to on those guys. I wouldn't do it unless I was certain it was going to hit.

But you are right, there is nothing that says they can't do that. Have you seen any history of them doing it?

If they are trying to get this done, it feels like it is going to be:

1)  Someone they have brought in (If they liked one of these dudes...seems like this would happen fast) OR

2) Unemployed NFL dude - (I think this would happen fast if they had someone they liked) OR

3)  Someone in the Playoffs that doesn't want to be distracted OR

4)  Someone that coached last night or tonight OR

5) Internal hire - I think this would happen fast as well if they had someone they liked

I believe they do not have to announce visits by college coaches, but they do with the NFL. No new visits have been accounced and there has been no kind of update.

I think it is #4.

lets address the bullying comment first.

image.png

yea me joking about people being overly emotional or having "fire everyone" knee jerk reactions is in no way bullying, this is some soft ass bullshit for you to say..

moving along from that bullshit.

I think what i said a little earlier about them paying the going rate for what they are getting covers it..

can you tell me a time they didnt pay the going rate for what they were getting when the time came to re-up or extend or sign?

so just depends.

im aslo trying to find the details of Goldens contract with Notre Dame, it is UP TO 9 million over 4 years.. for all we know there is a 1mil bonus for winning the championship each season and its a 4 year 5 mil deal?

wish coach deals were more public

from how ive found a few other staff member deals from Notre dame its very possible that this is a 1.8mil deal with 500k bonuses for making it to XYZ or a championship or those type bonuses, or a series of them like 100k for making championship and 400 more for winning it...  but Notre dame has other people on staff at 1.8 + 500k bonus incentives.

if thats the case, and they arent bonuses he will hit.. wouldnt be hard to pay him 1.8-2.0

if thats not the case then who knows.

DC pay seems to go off of experience and going rate. aside from the top 5-6 paid, the different between #6 and #15 paid is 800k total.

where do the bengals put al golden experience wise for an NFL contract as DC? with a Brian Flores? a todd bowles? Lou came from DB coach and got one extension at what appears to be upper half market rate at the time.

if Goldens market equivilant is Bowles or Flores, he will be in the 2-3 range.

lastly factor, if the money is close but lower, being in the nfl can lead to better faster promotions if he wants to be in the NFL as his goal, if he would rather be in college and chase money there, then id imagine he just wouldnt bother taking the job.

we shall see.
