Bengals Free Agency 2025

Here's how I would fix the Bengals pass rush ... (Ideally)

- Trade for Myles Garrett

- Sign Chase Young

- Draft Mykel Williams DE

- Then have Trey, Myles, Young, and Mykel rushing in a rotation and all 4 on the field on passing downs. 😎

And how would they actually go about any of this, trading for Myles Garrett is a lot easier said than done....same for drafting Mykel Williams

I copied this from the "other" forum where I lurk sometimes. User is "TheLeonardLeap". I actually lol'ed at the last part as it's probably true:

Don't see it happening and there's the key.

Even if the Browns would somehow be willing to trade Garrett to a division rival they'll have to play at least twice a year (unlikely) you're asking Mike Brown to give up at least a 1st round pick and 2nd round pick who are cost controlled cheap rookie contracts in order to get and pay Myles Garrett at least $20m (probably more as he's almost certainly going to want an extension wherever he goes) on top of giving Hendrickson an extension.... on top of paying Chase a mountain of cash.

If you ask Mike Brown to trade a 1st and 2nd round pick and spend $200m in guaranteed money for Garrett+Hendrickson+Chase, he might live another 20 years out of spite to prevent anyone else from owning the team.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yes, or to a team outside of the division, if not. I still don't see them trading him... the guy is still a game-changer and he did that last year, playing hurt for most of the year. The Browns have done plenty of dumb isht through the years but I don't think they are that dumb (in this case).

I think Garrett will most likely be traded before the season. Browns don't want to but they aren't winning anything in 2025 and need to gather some more assets for when they are competitive in a few years. They should probably just do a full tank in 2025 to ensure they have a high pick in 2026, trade Garrett and probably gain a couple of firsts from that, and trade down from pick 2 this year to a more QB-desperate team like the Raiders or Jets or even Giants while adding more picks.

They should be able to cut Watson as a post-June 1 move next year and wash their hands clean. If they find their QB of the future in 2026, they'll be able to build around him with extra picks and a refreshed cap situation.

Rams

Atwell is the guy I want if Higgins leaves. He has been less than Stellar in LAR but I think he could come cheap and shine with Burrow.

Looking for a CB who can start that won't mind not starting. Witherpsoon is a guy I have wanted since the was in Pittsburgh.

I don't want to replace our 6'4"' 220lb wide out that's very good at contested catches for

A 5'9 165 lbs midget out there in Atwell...

Hell no...

If Williams is gone.Take the other, Georgia defensive end.Jalon Walker. They're both good.

Think it's crucial they sign a quality DE & either Ford or a better LG.  They can't go into the draft desperate for 2 day one starters.  Another DT would probably be a good idea as well if they expect to have a shot at the SB next year.  I liked what I saw from the 2 rooks there but not enough to confidently name them the new starting IDL.

Of course Rankins is still under contract but if they pay him $10M next season I hope it's coming out of Tobin's pocket.  Hubbard's at least done something to earn that consideration though it's still a bad idea).  Rankins was a bad idea from the start.

I don't think we need to splurge on a high end DE or DT in free agency, though if we can get one, great. We need to upgrade both OG positions but can do that with a couple of mid-career journeymen vets. If we pay them a combined 12 mil, that will match the cap space we gain by cutting Volson and Cappa. We should still re-sign Ford since he covers 4 positions for us.

We should cut Rankins and Hubbard and probably let Tufele go as well. It doesn't look likely that Ossai or Hill return and Cam Sample will likely start next season on PUP if the team re-signs him. Typically we carry 10 DL on the roster so that leaves us down quite a few. It's a good draft for D-line and also a good group of pass rushers too. I'd be in favor of signing someone like Joseph-Day or Tart or Ford to rotate with Jackson, maybe Campbell for general depth, and a veteran rusher that doesn't break the bank. Even if just an Ojulari level player. Then we could draft the best players each round without having to fill specific positions. It's likely that the best player will be a D-lineman at 17 or 49 so we won't have to force anything.

As a potential swing tackle in the mix?  Sounds about right.  He & Ford would reset the floor as far as the new OL coach's expectations.  Beat these guys if you want to start.  Volson very much on the bubble in this scenario.

That being said I'd make the contract highly pay-for-play.  Another vet OT in the locker room would be nice even if he rides the bench most of the year aside from ST.   Again, so long as he's affordable.  We've had vets come here to cash in while coasting for a victory lap.

I'll say that Moses is still a good ORT despite his 34:yrs.

Decent scores both protection and run..

He's played all his snaps at RT due to lack of blindsided lateral movement.

I believe he'd be a wonderful addition to backup Mims in case..

Contract????

2 yrs 7.5 per...?

^ In today's NFL you need 3 starting quality OTs and 3 starting quality Gs if you can find them (because of injuries).

I would approve bringing in another T as a backup.

If the Bengals fail to resolve the open holes at G everything pertaining to making a run could be for naught..

Winning teams build solid lines to let skilled players do what they do..

Lord knows we have more than enough lethal weapons with time to execute.

We do need a veteran swing tackle to replace Trent Brown. Ford can be OT4 in a pinch but adding a vet like Moses is a good idea. If we don't get him, there are a number of other options out there.

Kirkland was surprisingly good at T last year, although I don't like him there.

Moses signed someplace else. New England, maybe?

Yeah, they paid him starter money. We're looking for a guy with prior starting experience who will sign cheap. Beachum would have been good but he re-signed with the Cardinals. Jedrick Wills should be cheap, there are probably other options too.

I’d be willing to gamble on Ossai and another top 2 round pick in the draft - though I’d prefer to add an FA like Chase Young to the mix.

in any case I still want a legit 3-tech penetrator and a legit agility/speed rusher oposite Trey.

Yes, I’m assuming he stays. If not, the need obviously grows…
