thats the first time i have ever clicked anything that has anything to do with spotify ever.

$11/month for the majority of recorded music in existence, ad free? Yeah, they got me.

That & Bandcamp covers just about everything.

Not knocking it, i went from Pandora to Apple Music. never had anything spotify. APple Music has a service called Itunes Match, which was CLUTCH for me years ago you can load any music you own into it, and itll be on your apple music, streamable from anywhere, to my volumes of albums i released as a youngster, collection of random local artsts, etc is all on my apple music for $25/Year.

And apple music is included in my family apple one plan, like $30-50/mo for 6 people (my family and 2 broke ass friends mooch off me too) gives us apple tv+, apple music, like 10TB of backup cloud storage, news access and some other features, the cloud storage is something i cannot live without. it stores all files seeprated by user, on the cloud and makes them available on all devices.

SO i am at work, i make a design for a product, save it to my desktop, go home, open my macbook, BAM the files is on my desktop, open my ipad, click files, then desktop, BAM files is there, my phone? you guessed it.. its all there. that plan gives all those features to all 6 members, the storage is a shared total, but all files are private and seperate, and it backs up unlimited devies of those users.

My Mac Studio

My macbook pro

My ipad air

My ipad mini

my apple watch

my iphone

my wifes macbook

my wifes ipad pro

wifes watch

wifes phone

kid 1 macbook air,

kid 1 phone

kid 1 ipad

kid 1 watch

kid 2 macbook air

kid 2 ipad

kid 2 iphone

thats 17 devices from my fuzzy math there...

so im locked into the ecosystem, i can also control and share files with my mac mini in our shipping department at work so if im traveling i can log in and print labels and invoices for the shipping department, check cameras, etc..

so im just stuck with apple music, which has been great and has all my personal music streaming as well.

so no knock os spotify what so ever, just by coincidence of the pandora to apple music/itunes switch years ago i bypassed it..

hell yeah, love people making music, art, whatever, love people who support those doing so as well.

ive bought a bunch of shit just because i wanted to support the artists... dont take me to a comic con.. the artists alley rows will bankrupt me... people saved and setup up a table, put thier art on display, their lives work and sit there eager for someone to show interest... and so many people try not to make eye contact... i LOVE that aisle.. but man i own some random shit from those folks.. my buddy writes horror fiction, he excitment he gets when people give him the time of day and show interest is incredible.

You don't have to buy albums individually on Spotify. It's a flat fee for access to the whole library. I listen to just about any genre you can think of so it's pretty great for going down a rabbit hole, working my way through entire discographies or checking out obscure side projects. Almost the complete history of recorded music, on demand, for 10 bucks. Hard to beat

Don't own Apple anything so that's not a consideration.

yeah apple music is the same, everything in the history of the world for $7.99-9.99 solo, but its part of my bundle.. and yeah 100% if you dont have any apple stuff then no reason to ahve apple music, lol. apple music doesnt really sell anything at all, both have exclusives to drive sticky customers, apple did a exclusive relase early listening party concert thing for Clipse the night before it came out, i think spotify has Rogan as an exclusive, etc... everyone fighting for peices of the pie.

The "new release Friday" list is cool, as are some of the label & genre lists people put together. The concert announcements are nice. Sounds like they're basically the same service.

Hard pass on Joe Rogaine. I can't fuck with a grown man that's incredulous about where the Sun goes at night or how fish breathe underwater, even if it is an act.

yeah im not a listener watcher either, i just recall the huge deal it was when he went exclusive there, like 100million or something...

Nah that's basically what you're paying for at those things. I bet they get some wild requests from people, few autographs are nothin

Ayo spit some birthday bars for my Mom rq

lmao, probably, they do have 2 handlers running it, they brief everyone how its gonna go, they got a guy holding your shit, then the speaker guy holds the autograph items and helps hold and hand to them as they sign, collect your ship for you, and help you move the fuck on..

they dropped some adidas shoes with the album i saw someone getting those signed, in the VIP bags you get some foil artwork that people get signed if they didnt bring anything, they got that system down pat... they do 15-16 people per show for the meet and greet, roughly $200 per person, so roughly $3000 extra for about 25 minutes of their time. it seems they do this with the limit because it pays for all their road crew salaries, if people are doing it to cash in more theyll have a limit of like 100-150 people and do it for an hour.. but the limit makes me think they dont wanna do it but it offsets expenses, 28 shows in 4-5 weeks, $84,000 in revenue from the meet ups, about $2000 a week in offset expenses for staff. not even counting the merchandise sales for tour price gear (440-50 t shirts, $85-100 hoodies) so they are doing well on this tour for sure.

Very nice, Cattle Decapitation always seems to deliver (Terrasite was just banger after banger).

Heads up, they're heading out on a US tour & also playing some festival in Columbus next year if you're in Ohio.

Local venue says they're going to play Death Atlas in full at this one, seems to be a thing.. Boris played all of "Amplifier Worship" on their last tour & are doing an anniversary thing for "Pink" on this one (!!), Testament played The Ritual down in Tucson..

Don't forget your earplugs!

Speaking of Boris this collab is what I'd really like to see tour

headphone warning!!

Some cool shit here, I'm digging through their catalog.

Yeahhhh I'm not lookin' to get shipped to some African/South American/Middle East gulag because my phone contains wrongthink, I don't expect to be down there anytime soon 😬 Honestly though many of us up here are good avoiding any US trips for the foreseeable future, mostly because of the whole 51st state nonsense talk. 🤷‍♂️

Here's an east Asian band I've been into lately... lots of political content, but subject matter that's pretty damn new to me - Taiwanese anti-KMT, but certainly not pro-CCP... island nativist sort of sentiment. It's been fascinating learning the history they're depicting in the lyrics and videos:

Understandable. Bet y'all start getting more touring acts for the same reasons, though.

I believe the below was suggested in my feed because I listened to a bunch of the above (I'm glad it was!). When it comes to instrumental metal I tend to listen to this type, the old school speed metal/virtuoso stuff. If it's live shows you're looking for it looks like this lady pretty much stays in Japan:

Yeah I'm more into the doom/noise end of things really.. Technical stuff doesn't usually do it for me.

You heard Windhand? Looks like they might be touring again. They're uh.. volatile. Catch 'em while you can... Ditto for Weedeater, for the same reasons, on account of Dixie Dave. They just played Scully's in Columbus a few weeks ago. Not for everyone, but they're a good time
