You heard Windhand? Looks like they might be touring again. They're uh.. volatile. Catch 'em while you can... Ditto for Weedeater, for the same reasons, on account of Dixie Dave. They just played Scully's in Columbus a few weeks ago. Not for everyone, but they're a good time

I haven't gotten to the sludge lists yet in my annual consumption of "best of metal" countdowns, but doom-wise people seem to be pretty loose with the definition... lots of what I'd call more goth than doom. Either way, I stepped into a big pile of the new Paradise Lost all on my own and I've been repeating it a lot for months (it's a fair mix of their various incarnations, but truly a return to their goth roots at times):

The other band that really hooked me hard was this one, and this track in particular. Again a band that has had doom-y tracks in the past that I remember but this album is more goth-y IMO as well:

So here's a genre I believe I've heard the name of, in some tangential way, but never bothered putting my finger on: blackgaze. Black metal fused with shoegaze. Yeah, I'm here for it (at least if bands like this are the norm):

I am finishing “The Uncool” by Cameron Crowe. He was a writer for Rolling Stone at the age of 15, and later wrote the screenplay for “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, “Say Anything “ and “Almost Famous “ , which was loosely based on his life and won him an Oscar. Anyway, “The Uncool “ chronicles his adventures interviewing and traveling with The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, and many others. It’s a quick read if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s really good.

Clapton, Mick, Lennon and Elvis stand out to me

Just enormous lifestyles and music that

transformed rock..

I know this is old school unlike the Taylor Swift, Drake, Kendrick and Bieber generation of today.

Times change as music does.

That's the magic in it all.

First of all, I’m not so sure it’s old school in this crowd. 😂

Also, my son is a big music fan. His tastes run more to punk, but you will find anything on his Spotify from Johnny Cash to NWA. Through him, I’ve developed an affinity for Rage Against the Machine, and in turn he likes some of my music. 🎶

Was viewing a Phil Collins clip "In the air tonight"

The passion in his drumsticks was incredible.

So sorry to see him going thru his final years
