Every single FA signing this week has either been a player that was on the team last season, a player (Perine) who played for Cincinnati in the recent past, or players (Slaton/Burks) that worked with a new Bengals position coach previously in the NFL.

Yeah, it sort of shows how limited the Bengals pro personnel department is. Apparently they don't have someone to grade every player on every play on other teams. They could use PFF or ESPN advanced stats as a bare minimum. What they proclaimed as the most important offseason in team history has been a flop thus far. At most, we've upgraded the NT position despite entering free agency with 40 mil in cap space. Otherwise we are just paying the same guys more money and hoping for better results. That isn't a recipe for success.

Yes, Slaton was a much better signing than Hill, Ossai, or Sample.

Definitely agree.  He’s the NT we didn’t sign last year to replace Reader.

They overpaid for Hill.  It’s hard to believe they can drive such a hard bargain in other negotiations but hand out that deal.

Ossai and Sample for a combined $8.6 million is decent business, but doesn’t upgrade the roster.  Needed bodies but they have to be thinking of adding more in the draft, which thankfully is deep at DL.
