LostInDaJungle Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/sources-bengals-re-signing-bj-hill-to-3-year-33m-deal/ar-AA1AD4sm? BJ Hill extended for 3 years, $33M. Quote
-GoBengals- Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 he outperformed DJ reader by a large margin last year rating wise and statistically. im sort of surprised by the signing with the deep draft class but cant be too deep at DT as we found out last year playing dudes off their couch. im guessing Hills deal is really a 1 year deal with an out after next season with a hit of 2-5mil if they choose to do so. 3 Quote

They seem to write these sort of "outs" into a lot of contracts. When was the last time they used one? Quote
sparky151 Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Bengals guaranteed Hill 16mil. He's not getting cut after year 1. We all know how Tobin brags about having a low amount of dead money. 1 Quote

Not identical. 18 minutes ago, T-Dub said: thought that might be the case. meningitis is awful, good friend of mine caught it and his hearing never recovered. IDK where all the "locker room cancer" talk came from? Dehner was on Tyler Dunne's podcast and lit Rankins up. Said he was impressed by Sheldon at his introductory press conference but less so after he saw him checking out and not putting in any effort. Said he was a bad influence in the locker room, presumably most directly for Jackson and Jenkins. 1 Quote

He was a proficient 3tech with Ogunjubi few yrs ago . He moved to NT to help interior run game and was proficient there as well. He brings it every form and the players feel it.. He's a terrific guy for the line... 1 Quote

|BlackJesus| Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Looking at BJ Hill's combine measurables, he did 35 reps and had a 40 under 5 seconds at 311 lbs. Impressive. Quote

Agreed that Hill is better than Rankins but that isn't the standard. Bengals were poor at pass rushing last year. Keeping Ossai and Hill and replacing Rankins with Slaton won't help fix the problem. Hill had 8 sacks in 2021, the final year of his rookie deal as a rotational player. That got him the 3 year deal he just completed. He had 3 sacks last year in 15 games. Compared to Slaton's single sack, it's fine but Bengals need to generate some interior pressure. Maybe they move Ossai inside on obvious passing downs but it would be nice to have a DT who could reliably win 1 on 1 matchups on 1st down. We don't currently have that. Maybe we draft Walter Nolen or Derrick Harmon to get someone like that. But then why do we need Hill in that case? Levi Onwuzurike also only had 3 sacks last year but he had 47 pressures and a much higher pass rush win rate, 16.2% to Hill's 10.9%. 1 Quote
saphead Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 I kinda want our BJ to be a little sloppy this season. 1 Quote

I want that BJ to get in there deep until it can just smell the sack right in front of it's nose. Right up the throat. All up in Lamar Jackson's face. Swallowed up. Goin' down. On his knees like a lil' bitch. 1 Quote

He stood on sidelines much of last year as youngsters replaced him As a cheap depth piece maybe... BTW. It's time to sign Kevin Zeitler for RG position He makes to much sense not to.. 2 Quote
sparky151 Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Larry O is well past his sell by date. I suspect that after the huge contracts Fries and Banks got, the rest of the guard available raised their prices. Quote
