*** [RD 1] Bengals Select ~ SHEMAR STEWART, DE ***

I think he’s an edge setter initially and playing inside on passing downs. His explosiveness should help him generate some interior pressure.

If he doesn't know how to beat blocks he's going to get pushed around until he does.. never mind double-teams. Keep saying it but that "Tasmanian devil" flailing around stuff tends to get shut down in the NFL. He's not lining up across from Bowling Green. Damn near everyone on the field is ahead of this dude skill-wise, including all the rookies. He needs to catch up - his physical ability is the only thing making that possible.

Not shitting on the guy because I think he can get there but expecting it to happen in a month is unrealistic. I hope everyone else won't start shitting on him if he's exactly what they drafted - a raw prospect with tremendous upside that will probably need some time to get settled as a pro.

Gotta say Trey holding out is probably not helping that process along & they really should've brought in a legit DE to ease the transition. I don't see Ossai as every-down and Murphy would be on the bubble if he wasn't a $7.5M cap hit & the cupboard wasn't already bare.

Just not a great situation for a gifted DE that could really use a mentor and some time to cook, and none of that is remotely Stewart's fault.

Bengals continue their tradition of drafting college teammates and close friends (it's usually worked out too) ...

Yeah but….he has only 4 sacks in his whole life. That automatically means he’s horrible and is a bust and I can’t believe the bengals drafted him at 17. Bonafide bust. We should trade him for a 4th rd pick while we still can.

Last time I saw a strawman take that kind of beating there were flying monkeys involved

😆

OK.

Shemar Stewart is officially no longer

my least favorite Bengal.

I'm on the Team Shemar Band Wagon.

Every Bengals fan should be.

And not every Bengals fan should be expected to understand football, the draft, prospects, etc.

Would be nice if those that didn't could pipe down a bit and parrot the talking heads a little less though...

The upside of all of this is that I've identified the circle of posters that I will limit my draft talk to. It's probably a result of following a bad team for so many years that the draft became one of my favorite parts of football, almost like another sport in and of itself to follow, one that has its own rules and logic and process...

...but if you understand all of that, there was no way you pass on Shemar Stewart for the CHANCE that he can realize his potential.
