Rare chance to get a good pass rushing interior lineman...almost. Report

Let's have that discussion in December. Report

I have this sneaking suspicion he's going to look serviceable enough playing patty-cake against our suspect/green DT's & then get tossed around like a frisbee when the real games start. $30M in cap space and a scale model of an NFL guard is the best they can do? He's listed as 6'3 & 310lbs but I'm not seeing it. Report

He's listed as 6'3 & 310lbs but I'm not seeing it.He got run over in Chicago after they made him their starting center 3 years ago. He'd been a backup in Green Bay before that. After getting cut by the Bears, he latched on with the Saints last year as a backup but played decently when pressed into service after injuries on their line. Basically, he's a competent backup player who can play center or guard. But not really a starting caliber player, at least on a good O-line. If Patrick and Ford were the backups to Risner and Scherff, I'd feel good about the guard position on our team. If the plan is for one of them to start at RG with a rookie starting at LG, then there is less to be confident about. Report

Yet they are still free agents. Can we stop pretending like those two are high quality starting options as well? That's just bitching and moaning for the sake of it. Report
