What is the most iconic TD in Bengals history?

Featured Replies

I saw a poll on X, what is the most iconic TD in your team's history.

I suggested Stanford Jennings kick return in XXIII.

Hubbard yard dash is another good option.

What gets your vote?

man this is tough.. and in history is tough.. i certainly dont recall Jennings TD i was like 7.

Hubbards was a good mention.. too many meaningless game winners like beating baltimore or whoever for the bills to get in.. or game winners against pitt, SHoebel from Kitna, Caldwell from Palmer.. etc

so many.. not one stands out.. jamar vs KC long run...

A few people mentioned the Simpson flip. Certainly beautiful, but in the grand scheme, I'm not sure it was important enough to be iconic.

ah yeah tho iconic as far as pop culture, a highlight of nfl cut footage for a decade... so maybe..

Have to go with this one. out of what's posted so far at least. Great on its own but also served to advance them in the playoffs against a division rival.

Pat McInally....50 yd TD from Throwin Samoan in final game of 1980 against Cleveland. Earlier in that game Thom Darden cheap shotted McInally and knocked him out for a few minutes. No concussion protocols back then. Returned to score the tying TD late in game.

In my mind it set the stage for the 1981 Super Bowl season....but that's just me.

Don’t forget PW’s punt return against KC in ‘03

That one might be the second most iconic actually ... (so his punt returns score high on both criteria).

😢 How I wish Warrick could have played in this current offense with Burrow (instead of being forsaken to the dark decade). The most dynamic player in college football history in my view ...

Peter Warrick coming back too early from an injury so he could help this team make the playoffs will always stand out in my mind as an absolute legend. He risked his entire career because he wanted that that badly.

But for me it's the Hubbard Fumble in the Jungle.

Playoff implications, puts the game away, and its from "The Cincinnati Kid"

You can't write that.

Has to be Hubbard for me, and it's not even close. The emotional swing couldn't have been greater. It seemed an absolute certainty that I was about to get my heart ripped out, only to have it filled with pure joy a moment later. That, to me, is essentially the greatest payoff of being a sports fan.

If they'd won it's a lock.

For me iconic requires (1) being at home and (2) winning the game.

Fair enough. In that case, it would be hard to top Hubbard's then. Pretty much saved that playoff game, and in as dramatic a fashion as you could come up with.
